Para Archery in Canada November 8th, 1:00PM EST Archery is a highly adaptable sport accessible to all. This webinar will provide an introduction to the CDN Para program, the people involved, with guidance on key considerations for working with and delivering programming for athletes with a disability. Any archer can apply to be classified through Archery Canada or may be able to be evaluated through a temporary process through your provincial archery association. A classifica...tion does not necessarily make an athlete eligible to compete in a Para Archery division, but may make them eligible to compete with an assistive device, in an eligible category to become familiar with the restrictions or assistance that category would bring. This is an opportunity to learn more about this sport which was one of the original sports at the inaugural Paralympic Games in 1960. Developing the muscles and skills required for archery takes training. Not having a program with practice formats and training strategies tailored to their development can make it tough for women to feel successful. No wonder they stop doing the sport they love. https://yourrole.womenandsport.ca/

Did you shoot and submit your scores for Archery Canada's ASA Challenge? https://archerycanada.ca/asa-challenge/ Here are some week 1 targets shot at 10 yards. Some 3D shooters might call a few of those shots real "jar lickers".

With our virtual AGM coming up in December it's time to ask for interested parties to either volunteer or be nominated to volunteer for a position on the Archery Alberta Board of Directors. We really need some new faces and opinions to fill spots on the board. Volunteering isn't going to fill every second of your day and you can have a real impact on the direction of Archery in Alberta. And heck, if I can manage social media accounts and the website, then sitting on this boa...rd should be a walk in the park for you. Download the nomination form here: https://archeryalberta.ca//Call-for-Nominations-2020-Fall- Duties of each of the positions can be found in our by-laws here: https://archeryalberta.ca/wp-content/uploads//08/bylaws.pdf

Fantastic news everyone! Our fundraising casino, originally postponed due to Covid 19, has been approved for November 22 and 23rd. You all know what that means - We need VOLUNTEERS!!! Don't think of it as something you have to do, think of it as a mini vacation. If you come from out of town, Archery Alberta covers your hotel, gas, and breakfast. Out of town AND volunteers local to Calgary will get a meal and snacks. Last year I visited The Hanger Flight Museum in my spar...e time and even had opportunity to fling some arrows at a couple of the local pro-shops. There are other incentives available if your club sends at least two volunteers and we are working on additional goodies that you can take advantage of. If you are interested in taking advantage of a trip to the exciting metropolis of Calgary and helping out the archery community at the same time you can message us here on social media or email [email protected] directly for more information.

Archery Canada is pleased to announce BOWdometer as the sponsor for this year’s Archery Day in Canada campaign. BOWdometer is a Canadian company (Toxon Technologies Inc) that has developed an archery practice companion that helps archers build confidence as they shoot. Archery Day in Canada is celebrated every year on the second Saturday of September and aims to unite all archers to celebrate the sport across Canada. The aim of Archery Day in Canada is to not only bring tog...ether the Canadian archery community, but also to introduce our sport to new athletes. This year on Archery Day in Canada we will be celebrating the archer’s journey through the sport from childhood to adulthood, recreational to competitive. BOWdometer straps onto the archers bow and tracks their shots providing you a consistency number for every shot, called Xi. It is a data collector with corresponding mobile apps which has been trialed by members of the national team showing some interesting potential. The BOWdometer is a precise, cost-effective, innovative, and easy to use technology that will help facilitate archer growth and improvement. https://www.bowdometer.com/ Through this partnership, Archery Canada will have access to custom wrapped BOWdometers that will be distributed in giveaways and contests. We are thrilled to be working with Archery Canada to help make archery-specific technology more accessible to archery enthusiasts across Canada, said Marianne Bell, co-founder of Toxon Technologies. Archery Day in Canada is a great opportunity to help archers along in their archery journey, no matter their skill level. Archery Canada is extremely excited to be working with BOWdometer to improve the experience of archers across Canada this fall and are looking forward to running fun activities and contests in conjunction with BOWdometer.

One might say we've saved the best for the last in recognizing the Archery Award recipients from 2019. Indeed this is the last of the showcase of award winners that hopefully makes up for not being able to present the awards in person.
