Our Certified Hand Therapist, Sue Kean, often recommends these Edema Compression Gloves for her patients with hand and wrist osteoarthritis. At $18 these are great gift for someone who wakes up everyday with stiff, sore hands. Feel free to ask us if these would work for you.
Christmas will look very different for many of us this year, but one thing that will stay the same is people's generosity and support. At Archstone we treat many women who struggle with pelvic pain and dysfunction, so we are aware that many, many women in our community struggle to access basic hygiene products. We will have a box set up in our reception area if anyone would like to contribute feminine hygiene products(pads, tampons, undies, and socks) We will be matching any donations and will distribute them to high schools in our region. Nobody should be worried about going to school because they are menstruating, ever, Period.
This is one of our most recommended brands of lubricant. Slippery Stuff (who doesn't love the name?) is a water based lubricant, paraben and glycerin free. It's perfect for sensitive skin, at a price that doesn't break Santa's pocket book!
Please help us welcome the newest member of the Archstone team, Andrea Tilley! We are thrilled to have Andrea join us. So thankful to have Darlene Mapp and Sharon Messer as part of the Archstone Team.
We are loving these Rad Rounds from Rad Roller for our patients with plantar fasciitis. We have a few sets in stock, so if you are looking for a great stocking stuffer, stop by the clinic and let us help Santa out!
Even as physiotherapists, we are not immune to injury. Here is our physiotherapist, Denise Hollway's story about her recent challenge overcoming hip pain. "This summer when my hip started hurting when on my bike I started stretching it with minimal success. Now that the cold weather is here I have switched to daily walking and my hip has really started barking especially at night. I have stopped stretching and started paying attention to how I am treating my hip muscles an...d tendons. The tendons were not happy with the compressive load of the stretching I was doing. As a 59 year old woman, my hip muscles and tendons are affected by the hormonal changes of aging and they need to be strengthened to allow me to remain active and comfortable. Happy to report that I am in week two of a structured hip muscles /tendon loading program and my hip muscles are starting to thank me by not complaining when I go for a walk. Which means I sleep better and walking is so much more fun. If you are experiencing hip pain with your activity or with sleep, consider a physiotherapy assessment to determine how best to approach your situation. Your hips will thank you!

If you are struggling with plantar fasciitis, check out the link in the comments for a great video on how to use these great little balls. If you are interested to know more about how menopause and your changing hormone levels affect your muscles and tendons, reach out to us. We'd be happy to set up a session to discuss your concerns.

If you are a woman who wants to know more about her Pelvic Floor, Inner Core and has a desire to take control of your overall health, we now have this effective and easy to perform program for you. To ensure this program is right for you, here are some questions to consider: Have you experienced leaking when jumping, running, laughing or sneezing and wonder if that is a sign that you need to pay attention to your Pelvic Health?... Have you seen a clinician about a Pelvic Organ Prolapse and been told to ‘do your Pelvic Floor exercises’ as part of your management strategy? Do you have ‘lower back pain’ issues that you’ve been told is due to a ‘weak Core’? Do you have a small Diastasis Recti (Tummy Gap) that you want to heal? If you’ve answered YES to the above questions..Take the next step and contact us at Archstone to make an appointment with Denise Hollway, PT. There is a prescreen assessment for this program. Denise will be offering the Everywoman Program this Fall - either 1:1 or in a small group ( online or in person). These program is provided by a physiotherapist and may be covered by extended health care benefits such as Blue Cross, Sunlife, etc.
