Finally got my hydraulic test equipment all set up! Thanks to Rebecca Irvine at Wil-Tech hydraulics for getting me some fittings and making the hoses. Can’t wait to try it out!
Does that tractor you use every day need a good look over? I offer tractor inspections starting at $360. I can come to you or you can bring it to me. Give me a call at (306) 948-6884 to make an appointment.
Got to work on a Case 1370 steering component. Apparently the break between this shaft is common. Should hold now!
Worked on this Case 2394. I’ve never seen clutch fibres delaminate quite like this before. They then bunch on one side and seized the PTO on which ruined the brake. All the fibre material ended up in the suction screen of the charge pump. I was able to clean it out without splitting the tractor thankfully. Some machining on the drum, new clutches and seals and back to work.
Got to repair a cracked flywheel off of a John Deere Model D. Nickel cast electrodes + lots and lots of heat + peening every few inches = good for another 70 years. Notably, old cast is not the purest metal to weld. I found the first couple welds had porosity, so had to be ground out and welded again until the impurities were burnt out and the weld was solid. This is probably why brazing was much more common. How does everyone else weld cast?
Fluid filled rims off of an 1950 John Deere D needed some remodelling. Had to cut out the cancer and build it back up with weld. A little reshaping and now it’s good to for another 70 years.
