Our friend Mike Stroh founded mental health initiative Starts With Me to help educate and raise awareness around mental health issues affecting youth, workers, and other people from all walks of life. The work of partners like Starts With Me doesn't stop when times are tough, in fact it becomes more imperative. Mike has put together a short video for our community on cultivating self awareness during times of stress. Looking for some inspiration? @Ericbatty @buckyjmiller and @ryanatkinsdiet show whats possible with the right amount of vision, heart and sheer hard work. These three recently completed a near 800km journey on fat tire bikes across the remote Wapusk Trail, traversing Polar Bear Provincial Park on Hudson's Bay. The Wapusk is made out of snow, the only connection to otherwise roadless, remote Indigenous communities, and is only open for 4-6 week window each year. ... Even more astonishing perhaps is the funds the trio raised over $10,000 in support of @truenorthaid, a not-for-profit that works along the James and Hudson Bay Coast’s Cree communities for the most marginalized people in Canada. The Way of the Problem Solver took place on December 3rd, 2019, as a showcase for our top 3 Problem Solvers Nominees. The Problem Solvers Campaign was created in an effort to highlight local community change makers who use design to positively affect the lives around them, in various groups and communities. We are proud to announce When Passion Meets Purpose, a night of inspiration and storytelling. Accomplished mountaineer Heather Geluk will share stories of her adventures along with strategies she uses to design her life around using what she's passionate about to make a difference. If you have a passion for the outdoors and are looking for strategies to live a more balanced life, fuelled by your passions and goals, Heather's talk will provide some great insights to start you... on this journey. Heather will speak specifically about her volunteer role in building the Khumbu Climbing Center in Nepal, which provides courses to teach climbing technique and responsible climbing practices to Nepali climbers. The night will finish with a screening of the short film "In the Shadows of Everest", featuring the Khumbu Climbing Center and its positive impact on the community.
