Live from Arctic Change 2020, Lucassie Arragutainaq presents the first-ever research project using SIKU end-to-end, inspired by our late elder Piita Kattuk, and engaging Inuit in every stage of the process. Learn how seal and polar bear diets change seasonally, based on SIKU posts collected by Sanikiluaq hunters, and how this approach can better incorporate Inuit knowledge to help implement the National Inuit Strategy on Research.

Sanikiluarmiut please stay safe and well. The health guidelines indicate that hunting is still ok; however, it is important to respect physical distancing while on the land as well as in town, including when it comes to sharing food. Please keep in mind that you or others could have COVID for up to 2 weeks before you show symptoms, so even if you or your friends aren't sick it could still be transmitted by direct or indirect contact, and so following health guidelines is very important right now to prevent it being spread in the community. Take care, stay safe and keeping everyone in our thoughts right now.

International Inuit Day 2020 We're celebrating International Inuit Day on November 7th with a podcast dedicated to our youth. ICC Chair Dalee Sambo Dorough host...s a roundtable discussion with four Inuit youth representatives from Alaska, Greenland, Chukotka, and Canada. They discuss how they will mark International Inuit Day, what it's like to be an Inuk in 2020, what issues are top of mind, and the road ahead to the next ICC General Assembly in Ilulissat, Greenland in 2022. Music is by Nelson Tagoona, Inuit throat boxing artist from Baker Lake, Nunavut. Additional narration is by Hazel Ootoowak, Project and Office Coordinator at ICC Canada. The podcast is hosted on Buzzsprout here: https://bit.ly/3gwLV9w You can also find it on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google. Enjoy! We've also gathered photos from across Inuit Nunaat to illustrate our beautiful land, traditional activities, and of course our political activities as well. We hope you enjoy our 4-minute video. International Inuit Day was created in 2006 by the ICC in part to memorialize our founder, Eben Hopson, and also to take pride in our achievements over the decades, as well as celebrating our traditional culture and language. We wish everyone a safe, thoughtful and joyous International Inuit Day.

In the context of current events, AES staff are taking the time to reflect on how we can be better allies to the communities that we serve as well as to communities facing similar social and environmental justice issues at home and abroad. Today marks the one year anniversary of the MMIWG report and is yet another reminder that there is a lot of work to do to address racism and social justice issues. We are listening, learning and reflecting on how we can all do better to help our communities thrive.
