Thank you to the The John Howard Society of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon for attending an afternoon of Equine Assisted Learning. Members of their management team attended and worked through some team building exercises! The participants were proof that you do not need any horse experience to participate in EAL! Most of them had little to no experience and really had to step out of their comfort zone. They did a great job! ~Ardice

Taz can’t wait for Thursday’s Eal class. What life skills will be learned that day???
A little pep talk, encouragement and hugs for Taz! One approach didn't work to complete the task so the participant tried something different! Sometimes we need a little positive feedback. Isn't that just like life?

At Heart & Horse the past two days were full of teamwork and further developing our life skills! These young people experienced what really makes a team work by some hands on experiences. They learned what roles are in a team and that to make progress we must communicate! Horses have their own ways to communicate so they needed to take the time to slow down and learn this language. Dante, Peppy & Taz were fantastic teachers this week

There is just something about being around horses that makes me feel ! My mood is lifted, positive attitude, I feel like I can accomplish what I need to, problems I was dwelling on aren't bothering me, there's a little pep in my step. Positive vibes all day! The EAL session went very well yesterday. Despite the heat, everyone fully participated and got the most out of the exercises!... Another session happening this afternoon. ~Ardice
All set up and ready for today’s class End of the Rope.

First week of Equine Assisted Learning is wrapped up! Today as I (Ardice) was getting our outdoor classroom ready, Dante was being a brat flipping benches Peppy came by later to assess the damage. Heather was laughing away in the arena as she set up the course. Great to start off with a few laughs! Dante was a wonderful EAL teacher today. His stubborn nature really challenged one of the youth but he persevered! The youth worked on developing their skills today. It was excit...ing to watch and facilitate! We were both excited to see the change in one of our participants. A young man who was very hesitant to participate and not a big fan of horses, made huge improvements in the matter of two sessions. We seen him build confidence, show courage and step out of his comfort zone! Wow are horses amazing! The young men in this group all did so well This was a bit of my perspective. I know Heather observed many positives also! - Ardice #heartandhorse #eal #equineassistedlearning #horses
