Now is not the time to have indoor gatherings or parties. We’ve worked so hard, but we could easily slide back to widespread transmission in the community. #Ldn...Ont #Middlesex #MLHU has declared a COVID-19 community outbreak after 22 people who attended social gatherings held last week tested positive for the virus. Health Unit investigators are aware of at least 10 post-secondary student gatherings held at private London homes between March 2nd and March 6th that are linked to this outbreak. Investigators are continuing the work of determining the number of close contacts associated with those who have tested positive. The end of the pandemic may be in sight now that we’ve started vaccinations, but it doesn’t mean that we can let our guard down and stop doing all the things that have helped slow the spread of COVID-19, says Dr. Alex Summers, Associate Medical Officer of Health with the Middlesex-London Health Unit. Now is not the time to open up our home to those who aren’t part of our household and it certainly is not the time to start attending parties. COVID-19 is still here and we could very easily slide back to seeing widespread transmission in the community. . . Help prevent the spread of COVID-19: . . Limit interactions to only those who are part of your household, maintain two metres physical distance from others, limit unnecessary trips out of the home and wear a mask as much as possible whether indoors or outdoors. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 15-20 seconds or use a waterless hand sanitizer with at least 70 percent alcohol content. Cover coughs and/or sneezes with your sleeve or cough into your elbow. Clean high-touch areas, such as doorknobs in public spaces, frequently. Download the COVID Alert mobile app to be notified if you may have been exposed to COVID-19, and to let others know if you test positive for the virus.

While mental illness accounts for 10% of disease burden Ontario, it receives just 7% of health care $. That means we are underfunded by about $1.5 billion! Canada is well behind other countries that spend 10-11% of their health care budgets on mental health. #bellletstalk by Dr @Javeed Sukhera We need more funding in #MentalHealthSupport
