How is it made: I start with sketching a new model of bag, then put together a couple swatches with hardware to see what goes together and after drawing a pattern I cut it in leather or other materials to make a first prototype. When I’m 100% convinced of what I created and believe that you guys will love it as well, then I purchase supplies and start production of a minimum of 10 pieces per colour. Then brand it and put all hardware and it’s ready to go home with you. This... process takes about 2 to 3 months and I do it once a year. The Shiny Gold Platted Hardware is still my top fave but there are many options available like brass, gun metal, rose gold, silver, etc... Due to Covid I decided to reduce my production of purses for a while but to focus more in Smaller Leather Goods, yes that’s right!! I’m currently working in our 2021 line of colourful pieces and can’t wait to share this with you. I started Armadillo in 2016 when I moved to Canada from Colombia (you guessed right!! I speak Spanish). Jobless and in a new country, far from my mom, I literally went store to store chasing my dreams and looking for an opportunity to showcase my designs. I could almost guarantee you that I went to all boutiques in Edmonton from north to south, east to west and did the same in Calgary. After being rejected a couple times, finally some stores opened up their doors to me and I am deeply grateful for their support. Big thank you to the local fam @flocboutique @themakerskeep @bambooballroom.yyc @espyexperience @blondie.boutique I watched a documentary named Dream Big and it motivated me to start participating in trade shows which has opened the doors to more things that I didn’t expect and I met amazing people thanks to all the event organizers that believe in my brand @makeitshow @littlemodernmarket @marketsformakers @bycurated25 This year I am writing it off, due to covid-19 I had to close the workshop in Bogota, had no supplies and shipping was almost not existent, so I took a long break to think about my business and propping life. No worries I’m not closing but I’m going to adjust a few things.
