Hi there! Michelle again. Back with another chapter on attaining sustainable freedom from pain. Today’s topic is Hot Stone Massage. With the weather getting colder, more and more clients are asking about hot stone massage and its benefits. Since 2006 hot stone massage has been a regular part of my treatments for people with chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, insomnia and high stress levels. It can be deeply beneficial to promote relaxation and healing. ... Here’s a picture of the stones used at the clinic. These stones are heated in water until they’ve fully absorbed the heat. A few are removed at a time, coated with oil and used to perform a slow, deep pressure massage. This slow, deep pressure allows the heat to penetrate tight muscles, increase circulation and improve relaxation. Hot stone massage is available 60 or 90 minute sessions. Mary has a last minute opening today at 5:30pm! A little bit about Mary- Mary is a graduate of the Massage Therapy program from MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy. During her schooling, she gained knowledge in how to approach specific conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's, Temporomandibular joint dysfunction, Piriformis syndrome, frozen shoulder, tension headaches, amongst many other conditions. Mary begins her initial treatment with a brief assessment and dev...elops a treatment plan suited to your individual needs. She focuses on combining deep tissue therapeutic treatments with relaxation and takes great care in meeting the clients needs and goals in every treatment. With skills in Cupping, Trigger Point Release, myofascial release, sports and prenatal massage and a variety of Swedish techniques Mary uses these to diminish tension, and stress while improving overall well-being.
