Highest reliability A typical gas car has 2000 or more moving parts. An electric car has about 20. Electric motors have proven that they can drive a car more ...the 1,600,000km (one million miles!). Electric cars are simply superior in every aspect except price, and that drawback too is also disappearing quickly. Soon, they will be better in all respects. Learn more about EVs at Evsociety.ca

This large 165 kWp project was installed by SolarCrew in 2015 on the roof of the arena at the Caledonia Fairgrounds. In its lifetime, this project has generated over 900 MWh of energy, which has saved 500 tonnes of CO2 emissions. That is the equivalent of planting 11,600 trees or off-setting the emissions of passenger vehicles driving a total of 3 million kilometres! Thank you to the Caledonia Agricultural Society for contributing to lower air pollution levels, which benefits us all.

A study by experts from more than 3 dozen research institutions predicts that sustained greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions could see global sea levels rise nearly 40 cm by 2100. Such an increase would have devastating impact worldwide, including increasing the power of storm surges and exposing coastal regions to repeated and severe flooding. Last year alone, Greenland lost a record 532 billion tonnes of ice, which is the equivalent of 6 Olympic pools of water flowing into the At...lantic every second. Greenland's run-off account for 40% of sea level rise in 2019. Climate change is a serious man-made problem; so we need to be serious about our efforts to change our ways to combat it. Governments need to step up and invest in clean technologies as well as give people incentives to adopt solar and electric vehicles into their lifestyles. Businesses need to ramp up research into improving the efficiency of clean energy technology and drive down the price of these technologies. Most importantly, consumers need to drive the fight against climate change. We need to be advocates and force both governments and corporations to make the environment a priority. If we're not willing to change our own destructive way, the environment will never recover. If we can help you decrease your dependence on fossil fuels, please get in touch. https://www.ctvnews.ca//emissions-may-add-40-cm-to-sea-lev

Environmentalists want to see the adoption of EVs to help the environment, but have you considered possible repercussions of such wide-scale adoption? As global sales of electric vehicles increase year-over-year, there will be an ever-increasing demand for the raw materials that are used in their production. Looking ahead to 2050, the World Bank predicts that "the production of minerals such as graphite, lithium, and cobalt could increase by nearly 500 percent" to meet the de...mand of new technologies, including EVs. Who is going to supply the raw materials that EVs use much more frequently and in greater quantities than traditional automobiles? To ensure a stable supply of raw materials, carmakers are being urged to invest in mines and buy directly from mineral producers. Forward-thinking Tesla is already considering potential long-term mineral shortages; it recently negotiated a long-term contract with Glencore to ship cobalt to its EV factory in Shanghai. Unless other carmakers begin to think long-term as well, the supply chain may be disrupted significantly as demand for EVs increase. Such disruptions will likely only prolong the use of traditional gas-powered vehicles. https://www.forbes.com//electric-vehicle-sales-are-surgi/

"The shift to electric vehicles and other low-carbon technologies could disrupt crude oil demand on a similar scale to the coronavirus pandemic." - Mark Little, CEO of Suncor Energy Inc. This is a powerful statement by someone in an industry that typically downplays the impact of clean energy and spreads misinformation to encourage mistrust of green technology. The global economic shutdown to slow the spread of COVID-19 resulted in the demand for fossil fuels dropping by roug...hly 30%. As the economy slowly begins to reopen, we have a unique opportunity to shift our focus from fossil fuels to clean energy as a way to bolster an energy revolution. We encourage you to contact your provincial government to encourage them to use clean energy to fuel a post-pandemic economic recovery. We can also cause a disruption by adopting clean energy into our lives, like buying an electric vehicle or installed a solar PV system. Please contact us if we can help with the disruption! https://reut.rs/3kMRtyU

The coronavirus seems to be speeding up the death of coal. As businesses shut down to slow the spread of the virus, the demand for electricity fell sharply. Because coal plants often cost more to operate than gas plants or #renewables, many utilities companies cut back on coal power first in response. As a result, the US is on track to produce more electricity this year from renewable power than from coal for the first time in history! Because coal is the dirtiest of the foss...il fuels, its decline has helped drive down the US carbon dioxide emissions 15% since 2005. As the cost of renewables - like wind and solar - continues to decrease, the coal industry will surely be pushed to the brink. As an aside - Ontario closed its last coal plant in 2014, becoming the first region in North America to eliminate its use. In 2018, Canada announced regulations to phase out traditional coal-fired electricity countrywide by 2030. #greenenergy #cleanenergy #renewableenergy https://lnkd.in/ghgS2ZD

EV drivers cite different reasons for getting rid of their gas vehicles and buying an EV: lower operating costs, high resale values, quick and quiet acceleration, and mitigating climate change. How about saving human lives? A recent study by Environmental Defence and the Ontario Public Health Association found that converting all cars and SUVs in the Greater Toronto area into EVs would result in 313 few deaths per year due to air pollution. Thats an estimated social benef...it of $2.4 billion for savings in areas like health care. Health Canada estimates that 14,600 premature deaths per year can be attributed to air pollution, with more than 3000 of them in the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area (GTHA). Transportation-related air pollution is linked to lung cancer, respiratory conditions (like asthma, allergies and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases) and cardiovascular conditions (like angina, heart attack, high blood pressure and stroke). We all need to advocate for clean energy, including EVs and solar panels. Encourage your friends, family, and neighbours to do their part to help the environment and save lives. https://electrek.co//new-study-every-electric-car-brings/

AAA recently did a survey of EV owners, with some interesting results. Here are some highlights of the results: - 96% said they would buy or lease another EV; - Range anxiety decreased or disappeared for 77% of new EV owners; 70% stopped worrying about charging station accessibility; - 43% now drive more in their EVs than they previously did in gasoline cars;... - 78% still have a gasoline car in their household, but report doing the majority of their driving (87%) in their EV; - 95% of EV owners said they have never run out of charge; - 75% of charging is done at home; 12% is done at public charging stations; 10% is done at work. While people may have concerns before buying an electric vehicle - including insufficient range and the availability of charging stations - these concerns seem to disappear with the experience of owning and driving an EV. https://www.digitaltrends.com//electric-car-and-gasoline-/

Weve had several people ask us if we think the lower gas prices will slow the sales of electric vehicles in Canada. Its important to remember that the slump in oil and gas prices is a short-term situation; prices wont stay low in the long run. As the economy ramps back up, the demand for oil will increase, stored amounts of oil will decrease, and its price will rise. Currently, the pandemic is disrupting all vehicle sales worldwide, including EVs, as people self-isol...ate and face financial uncertainty. However, as businesses re-open and people return to work, vehicle sales will begin to improve. And we expect EV sales to pick up right where they left off prior to the pandemic, particularly as people realize how much improved air quality was globally during the economic shutdown. Perhaps more importantly, there will always be people who are motivated by a desire to help the environment by reducing their carbon emissions. They will buy an EV regardless of gas prices. #electricvehicles #EVs #cleanenergy #greenenergy Heres an interesting article that you might enjoy. https://electrek.co//lower-oil-prices-wont-stop-massive-s/

Despite the current gloomy climate, is there a silver lining in the COVID-19 shutdowns? The global population is taking a forced paused from daily life and the disruption of the status quo is showcasing potential benefits of a zero-emission society, including a significant reduction in air pollution levels. In China alone, it is estimated that over 52,000 lives may be saved this year due to a fall in air pollution from COVID-19 lockdowns. As advocates for alternative clean en...ergy, including electric vehicles, we encourage you to contact your provincial government to encourage them to focus on climate protection while planning for post-pandemic economic recovery. https://electricautonomy.ca//covid-19-could-spark-new-opp/

For the first time, the number of EV charging stations in Britain outnumber gas stations -- about 9300 public charging stations compared to 8400 gas stations . How does North America compare? According to the 2018 National Retail Petroleum Site Census, there are 11,929 gas stations in Canada versus roughly 6000 EV charging stations (found mainly in BC, Ontario, and Quebec) -- a 2-to-1 ratio. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that there are 168,000 gas st...ations in the US, compared to 22,048 charging stations. The city of Toronto is making a major commitment to going electric. City council recently voted to introduce an electric vehicle strategy for the city that will make all forms of transportation electric by 2050. Can a city of 2.8 million people actually go electric in transportation? Only time will tell, of course. But we applaud Toronto for having such a lofty vision and setting the long- and short-term goals that will push it along the right path to reducing its greenh...ouse gas emissions. More large cities need to follow Torontos example. https://mobilesyrup.com//toronto-make-vehicles-electric-2/

Considering solar panels, but worried about performance in our cold and snowy winters? Research shows that solar panels can still successfully generate electricity in snowy and harsh conditions. Light snow has little impact because it slides or blows off easily. The accumulation of heavy snow can limit the amount of energy produced by solar panels, but once it begins to shift, power generation begins again. Still have questions? In a report just released today by UN-agency World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the levels of heat-trapping greenhouse gases in the Earths atmosphere reached record levels in 2018. The WMO measures the atmospheric concentration of the gas responsible for global warming, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane, and nitrous oxide, rather than solely focusing on carbon emissions. The WMO report says there "is no sign of a slowdown, let alone a decline, in the greenhouse g...ases concentration in the atmosphere..." Doing things like recycling is a great start to helping the environment, but we all need to do more. What can you do to help? Here are some suggestions: - Set personal goals for reducing your environmental impact. Get an electric vehicle and/or install solar panels to save on electricity costs. - If you live in a province that does not have an incentive program for buying EVs over internal combustion engines (ICE), contact your provincial government to encourage them to offer such a program. - If you live in an apartment building or condo, ask your building owner or condo board to install EV chargers to encourage residents to buy an EV. Solar panels could also be installed to help electricity costs for residents. - Encourage your employer to become more sustainable by installing an EV charging station or solar panels. If an employee has a place to plug in their EV during the day, they will be more likely to drive it to work. As well, more employees will be encouraged to buy an EV if they know they have a place to charge during the day. What other suggestions do you have for reducing greenhouse gases? Lets start a conversation and encourage everyone to lower their carbon footprint. Our planet (and our existence) depends on it! https://www.upi.com//WMO-study-Greenhouse-/3641574683883/
