Improving conservation through research and knowledge. AROC has collaborated with Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) since 2014 to further our knowledge of Atlantic Salmon in Labrador. This research has given us a lot of insight and some wonderful storylines. The lovely hen in the video below was caught and released by a very excited young man named Luke Coleman. She weighed in at just over 24lbs and was undoubtedly the highlight of Luke’s summer. ... A recent visit to the Hunt River in late October gave us an opportunity to check in on the River and the fish we had seen over the summer. Along with many others, we were able to find Luke’s fish and see that she has moved up a bit since her time with Luke and was holding nicely in a spawning section of the river. The clear waters and radio tags allow us to check on the fish throughout the year. It’s amazing to see where they go and how they react to the changing temperatures, water levels and seasons. Our new science board in the Lodge portion of the store will further unpack some of our findings for you. We look forward to sharing it with you in the near future at one of the many upcoming Lodge events. Huge thanks to Curtis Pennell for the update! #investing #conservation

October 8, another complete NL season in the books. We hope it was a great one for all who had the privilege to participate. It seems that one of the upsides to COVID was the extra opportunities we had to get on the water and for a lot of people, it was the beginning of a new love and passion as they discovered the sport for the first time. Atlantic Rivers Outfitting is your go to store for GORE products with top offerings from Simms Fishing Products, Sitka Gear and Harkila to keep you warm and dry on all your adventures. We often get questions on how to take care of your gore gear, so here's all the info you need! HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR GORE-TEX OUTERWEAR... Taking good care of your GORE-TEX garments is easy - and that includes washing your waterproof GORE-TEX outerwear and non-waterproof clothing from the GORE-TEX INFINIUM product range. Be sure to carefully follow the garment manufacturer’s instructions too. (usually found on the inner label). Things You'll Need Washing Machine Liquid Detergent Dryer (recommended) Iron, towel or cloth (optional, if no dryer available) Water Repellent Treatment (as needed to restore water repellency) WASH STEP 1 Before washing, zip the front, pockets and pit zips completely. Fasten any loose flaps and straps. STEP 2 Machine wash (105F/40C). Use a small amount of liquid detergent. Rinse twice and minimize spinning. Don't use powder detergents, fabric softeners, stain removers, or bleach. Don't wash with heavily soiled clothing. DRY STEP 1 Tumble dry on a warm gentle cycle or line dry your outerwear. Don't dry at a high temperature. STEP 2 Once dry, tumble dry for a further 20 minutes to reactivate the durable water repellent (DWR) treatment. If a dryer isn't available, iron the garment on a gentle setting. When ironing, protect the garment with a towel or cloth. Don't use steam. You can do this step any time you notice the water repellency needs a boost. RE-APPLY STEP 1 If water doesn’t bead and run off after washing, you’ll need to reapply a durable water repellent (DWR). Use a DWR product of your choice, available as a pump-spray or a wash-in product. STEP 2 Following application, tumble dry your garment for 20 minutes to activate the DWR treatment. Or iron the dry garment on a gentle setting (warm, no steam) , placing a towel or cloth between the garment and the iron. Don't apply DWR to GORE-TEX products with a persistent beading surface (e.g. GORE-TEX SHAKEDRY garments). See special care instructions below. SPECIAL CARE GORE-TEX GARMENTS WITH PERSISTENT BEADING SURFACES Washing GORE-TEX garments with persistent beading surfaces (e.g. GORE-TEX SHAKEDRY garments) is slightly different as they have no textile outer layer - the outer layer is the GORE-TEX membrane itself and there's no need for DWR. Machine wash on delicate cycle at 105F/40C. Do not dry clean. Do not tumble dry. Do not iron. Do not bleach. Do not apply DWR treatment. Black Fly Eyes

The first evening spent in The Lodge was a great one. An time shared with friends exchanging stories from this summers fishing adventures and plans for the upcoming fall hunts.
