The Aron Theatre Co-op has new days and times! and CRY MACHO opens today! The Aron Theatre has new movie days and times: Friday, Saturday and Tuesday at 7pm, and on Sunday we now have 2 daytime showings at 1pm and 4pm. We no longer are showing Sunday or Monday night movies.... CRY MACHO opens tonight and runs until Tuesday. The film stars Eastwood as Mike Milo, a one-time rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder who, in 1979, takes a job from an ex-boss to bring the man’s young son home from Mexico. Forced to take the backroads on their way to Texas, the unlikely pair faces an unexpectedly challenging journey, during which the world-weary horseman finds unexpected connections and his own sense of redemption. Aron Theatre Co-op Ready to Re-open on Friday, September 10! After being closed since March 15, 2020, we are ready to re-open on Friday, September 10, to kick-off our 10th Anniversary celebrations! We are still in Step 3 of Ontario's pandemic public health guidelines, so we will open with 50% capacity, self-screening (including being fully vaccinated), reserved tickets, physical distancing, masks, hand sanitizing and other public health measures.... Kenetic Energy has completed the installation of the new air ventilation, UVC purification and filtration systems, as recommended by Jeffrey Seigel, a University of Toronto professor, and an expert in indoor air quality. We have an exciting roster of movies lined up for this fall, including our opener, "Free Guy", with Ryan Reynolds. We have kept our affordable prices the same, and you can buy tickets by visiting our new website and clicking on the Schedule & Tickets button at the top, then click on the time of the movie you want to see. https://arontheatre.com/ As we re-open, we are asking people to renew their memberships if possible, and we always welcome new members. Doors Open at 6:30 Tonight for "Free Guy" with Ryan Reynolds After 18 months of being closed to protect our community from the pandemic, we are opening tonight!... All of our staff, volunteers and customers are required to be fully vaccinated, self-assess for COVID-19 symptoms before coming to the theatre, and wear a mask in the theatre. You can read our COVID-19 Safety Plan for more details. We have installed new commercial air ventilation, UVC air purification, and filtration systems to protect people from COVID-19 and other viruses. We are encouraging people to buy tickets online at www.arontheatre.com As we are in Step 3 of the Ontario Government's safety protocol, we are allowed 50% capacity with physical distancing, and wearing masks (except when people are sitting and eating or drinking). Avoid potential pandemic complications this summer, with the increased summer population, and the Delta variant versus increasing vaccination rates. Some jurisdictions, including Manitoba, are requiring people to be fully vaccinated to attend a movie theatre. 3. Ensure all required health and safety practices are in place. After being closed this long, we want to make sure we re-open safely, and make the experience of returning to the theatre a very positive one for our community members. We will have an exciting roster of movies, special events and concerts lined up for this fall. And, we’ll all be ready for a big welcome back to The People’s Theatre!

In a letter to the community of Trent Hills, Rodney Bowes, a Juno Award winning designer, expresses his love of cinema and our treasured Aron Theatre Co-op. In his own words, here’s Rodney’s story. A few years ago, I moved from Los Angeles to Campbellford. I love the culture of Southern California, where film and art reign. I soon found a great similarity here in our rural Canadian enclave, where there are an abundance of talented musicians and artists. Shortly after moving h...ere, I discovered that Campbellford has the only movie theatre for miles, within walking distance from my home. That was extremely comforting. My family and I became members and frequented the Aron on a weekly basis. In Hollywood, where the movie-going experience is meticulously presented with fabulous screens, sound and seating, I was quick to realize the exceptional quality of the Aron's top-of-the line digital projector with fabulous resolution and the crystal clear surround sound system. Later, I found out that the incredible Aron Theatre speakers were designed and built by local residents Bill Woods and Noel Parrott, including an extremely rare, large mid-range horn behind the screen, broadcasting voices of the actors. Wishing to connect with my new town, and after 40 years of designing graphics for the music and film industry (such as MGM and Disney in Los Angeles), I decided to volunteer and proffer my services to the Aron Theatre Co-op. After joining the marketing committee, I learned about the most remarkable aspect of the Aron: as a co-operative, it is 100 percent owned by local members, with a true sense of community, it is operated for the people and by the people. My t-shirt design has the original Aron marquee logo encircled and embraced by the words, "The People’s Theatre," representing the perfect visual metaphor. The Aron marquee in the center is edified by the bold framing of the words while it floats over a real audience at the Aron Theatre Co-op. I have always maintained that the best designs are the ones that get the point across in a split glance. Calling the Aron Theatre "The People’s Theatre" is a very obvious and succinct choice: it is exactly that. I feel that it’s very important that the community really understands and has pride in what that means. I would wager that if I were to walk down the streets of Campbellford and randomly ask the first 20 people that I encounter, "Who owns the Aron Theatre?" I would have a myriad of supposed owners, and would imagine that very few, if any at all, would answer, We own the Aron Theater. In the future, I would like each of these people to answer without any hesitation The Aron is owned by all of us it’s the people’s theatre. Membership and Re-opening Thanks to everyone who either renewed or bought an Aron Theatre Co-op membership: over 80 so far. We need your support to re-open. We would like to have 500 memberships by the time we re-open the theatre. Please buy or renew your membership online at:... https://arontheatre.com/membership/ The Ontario Government moved Eastern Ontario to Stage 3 on Friday, July 17. This allows theatres to open, with up to 50 people attending, ensuring physical distancing, and wearing masks on arrival and exit (you can remove the mask when you are sitting and eating popcorn or enjoying a beverage). We closed the theatre on March 15 to protect the health and safety of our community, and this continues to be our number one priority. Please click on the survey link below and answer a few questions to help the board of directors make a good decision regarding re-opening. We are planning to sell a maximum of 44 tickets online in advance for each show. We will also ask people to self-assess their own health before they buy a ticket (or up to four tickets for those in their own family or social bubble). The theatre will be set up for physical distancing (sitting at least 6 feet apart from others outside your household). Staff, volunteers and customers will be required to wear masks, and surfaces will be thoroughly cleaned after each show.
