One of the fundamental tenets of responsible government is that the elected legislature is supposed to keep the executive branch in check. One way it does that is by controlling public funds through the scrutiny of a budget. Proponents of democracy should be very concerned when any party tries to appropriate funds without explaining how they will be used.
At the beginning of February, we heard hints from our provincial leaders that in-person worship services might be allowed again by the end of the month. That didn't happen. Now they are hinting that service might be able to resume by the beginning of April. Continue to pray that this might be the case.
The British Columbian government is rewriting regulations to replace gendered terms with gender-neutral terms, but not in the way you might have thought. They ARE NOT replacing "him" or "her" with "them." They ARE replacing "him" or "her" with more specific nouns related to the topic of the law, such as "teacher, officer, applicant, or parent."
