The public policy has been extended to August 31, 2021. In addition, the eligibility criteria were expanded to include foreign nationals who were in Canada from January 30, 2020 to May 31, 2021 (meaning foreign nationals who entered Canada between these dates may be eligible). Applications received on or before August 31, 2021 may benefit from this public policy. This public policy has 2 elements related to restoration objectives: Restoration [PP.A]... The public policy provides an exemption from the requirement to apply for restoration within 90 days of losing temporary resident status for all foreign nationals (former workers, students and visitors) in Canada. The period of 90 days has been extended for foreign nationals who had valid temporary resident status on or after January 30, 2020 but whose status expired on or before May 31, 2021. They will have until August 31, 2021 to apply to restore their status. Interim work authorization [PP.B] The public policy allows former work permit holders with job offers to work while their restoration and work permit applications are being processed. If approved under this public policy, applicants may be authorized to start their employment while they await a decision on their restoration and work permit applications. The public policy remains in effect until August 31, 2021. Eligible applications received on or before August 31, 2021 may benefit from this public policy. https://www.canada.ca///temporary-residence/exemption.html

effective January 7, 2021, at 12:01 a.m. EST, all air passengers five years of age or older will be required to test negative for COVID-19 before travelling from another country to Canada. Documentation of a negative laboratory test result must be presented to the airline prior to boarding a flight to Canada. The test must be performed using a COVID-19 molecular polymerase chain reaction (or PCR) test and must be taken within 72 hours prior to the traveller’s scheduled departure to Canada. Parents Sponsorship Application submission timeline, if affected by covid19 The sponsorship application has been received by the Department within the period of 60 days after the day on which the Department sent the sponsor an invitation to make a sponsorship application. If, however, the sponsorship application and fees required to be paid pursuant to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations are received within 60 days, but some documentation required by these Inst...ructions or the Regulations is missing, the Department shall ordinarily grant the sponsor an extension of an additional 30 days, for a total of 90 days from the date on which the Department sent the sponsor an invitation to make a sponsorship application, to submit the missing documentation. If, however, the sponsor provides satisfactory evidence that he/she was unable to submit supporting documentation within the 60- day deadline established by these Instructions due to service disruptions caused by COVID-19, then the Department shall grant the sponsor an extension of 90 days, for a total of 150 days from the date on which the Department sent the sponsor an invitation to make a sponsorship application, to submit the missing documentation. Some (Parents & Grandparents Sponsorship) PGP Facts: 1. Getting this question from many RCICs. Eg. in 2018 I was single, in 2019 I got married, in 2020 i got a baby. Now I want to sponsor 2 parents. Whats my family size? So, Family size for 2018 will be 1+2, for 2019 will be 2+2, and for 2020 will be 3+2 for income calculations. You cannot count a person for past family income if he/she never existed at that time. 2. Even if you want to sponsor 1 out of 2 parents, you sill ...need to meet the income requirements for the all parents even if they are not accompanying. 3. You cannot sponsor your in-laws, you can only sponsor your own parents. Your spouse can sponsor his/her parents. You can be a co-signer in each other's application though. 4. You don;t need to be a PR/CC for last 3 years, but at the time of application you should be a PR/CC. You should still have the NOA for 2018, 2019 being a temporary resident in Canada, eg Student/worker. See more

Big update on LICO for Parents/Grandparents Sponsorship program- Given that many sponsors may have been financially impacted by the exceptional circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, IRCC is introducing a temporary public policy that will reduce the income requirement for the 2020 tax year to the minimum necessary income, instead of the minimum necessary income plus 30%. https://www.canada.ca//polic/family-class-income-2020.html

Two major events over the coming month will shape Canada’s immigration system for years to come. The first will be a new mandate letter that will be written by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to immigration minister Marco Mendicino. This letter will contain Canada’s new immigration priorities and it should be released shortly, perhaps as soon as within the coming week. https://www.cicnews.com//october-will-shape-canadian-immig The second is Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan 2021-2023. The plan will outline Canada’s new permanent residence targets over the next three years and it should be announced by October 30th.
