As many of you may have noticed driving down Tecumseh Rd E, the building that housed Art Galia for 16 years has been levelled. As much as my heart sank as I drove by, I had to look forward at the road ahead. By no means was this easy, but it is certainly made easier thinking of all our students and families who helped us get this far. Throughout the years, and through this pandemic, you have all been there, creating and maintaining the Art Galia spirit of creation, artistic... expression, and personal development, be it with us in the old and colourful Mother Goose Ice Cream Parlour building, or from a distance on Zoom. Within the walls of the old building, I grew, watched my children, and your children grow throughout the years. We saw them laugh and cry, grow taller, graduate, pursue higher education in the arts and a multitude of fields, said goodbye and wished them well on their new adult lives. I look at my students now, remembering how small they were when they first enrolled, and I look forward to seeing how far they will go. Now we have a smaller set of walls, which still houses the same spirit, for which I am so grateful. Thank you to everyone who has helped us survive, providing a classical art education to the youth of Tecumseh, Windsor and Essex county.
And just like that, 16 years passed. My girls grew up in this space, and many of my students experienced incredible creative development at Art Galia. Local artists receptions, birthday parties, graduation parties were held here. I dont know if I should be happy remembering past times or sad leaving these walls that so many admired and were proud to be a part of. If it were my choice, I would certainly stay within these walls of the gallery, but with the uncertainty that Co...vid-19 brings, combined with increased monthly rent costs, we can no longer continue at our current store front- so its time to relocate. July 31st is just one month short of Art Galias 16th anniversary. We may be leaving this space to find a new location for Art Galia to continue to grow and inspire, but what made it so special will be coming with us wherever we may go. Please send me your contact information to keep updated on Art Galia news, announcements and our new location. Our email address and our phone number will stay the same. As you know these things take time - moving, getting the space ready, organizing- for that I would like to give a special thank you to Jim and Kathy, Mark Gasparovic and family and his friend, Emily Schmidt her family and friend, Tajana, Spencer, Jelena, and of course, for my husband, I am forever grateful. I would also like to thank everyone who continued supporting us throughout these hard times, whether it be our dedicated students or incredible framing clients, your support been a shining light for me to continue forward and keeping inspired in trying times. We will meet again. I will see you at our new location and stay tuned for more. Cheers to the sweetest 16 years! Yours truly, Alicia
Van Gogh Exhibit Toronto exploration of artists paintings in the most stunning way. Details and brushstroke that you can see, music, vibrations of the walls that bringing even more life in to already immortal masterpieces. Atmosphere is just magical.
Were back - but now for something a little bit different! Im sure you have all been waiting for the day that Art Galia finds a new home, and we can welcome you in a bricks and mortar setting. Unfortunately, we are having some challenges in doing so, we need the right kind of space, not just any space. Options are limited within Tecumseh. ... I am proposing a temporary solution for a select number of students. My home studio can safely fit six students at a time, with social distancing considered. Yes, we will be committing to best practices concerning handwashing, plexiglass, and more. Please let me know if you are interested - we are operating on a first come, first served basis. I will be offering private lessons during the day for students who will be attending school online in September, and small group lessons as well. I will be offering Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening classes for our young artists. Fridays are fully booked. Thursday is reserved for grade 8s and high school students. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
