I have discovered the joy of painting with oils. My lovely and talented friends Yolanda DeVilliers and Jonn Einerssen have been coach and cheerleader for me in this new adventure with oils. This piece is focused on the interplay of light and reflection on the surface of the glass and the wine itself. The wine bottles feature labels from Ex Nihilo Winery. And the bonus here was that I got to enjoy the fabulous contents of the bottles after the painting was complete
I have been busy in my studio working on pieces for my first solo exhibition at Gallery 421 in Kelowna, June 18 and 19. This piece is based on an early morning walk I took through Tantalus Vineyard. The lights and shadows were amazing that morning
A mixed bouquet fresh off the easel. I love vibrant colors - they are all about joy and energy. To achieve a 3-dimensional effect with the petals, I sculpted an acrylic medium directly on the canvas before applying layers of transparent and opaque paint.

A few new pieces fresh off the easel
I'm a proud mama. My daughter Julia and her friend Tiernan are hosting a concert at the end of the month. Check them out below
I have been working for the past while preparing new pieces for the Spring Show at Gallery 421 in Kelowna. The gallery has been working with renowned film maker Simon Alexander to create a video experience, or a virtual sneak peak, of what will be on offer at the show. Kudos to Kelly, Ken and Sandra at the gallery for their creative approach to showcasing the work of artists Jonn Einerssen, Brent Heighton, Andrew Kiss, Debra Martin and Angela Morgan. It was pretty fun to ...participate in the making of this film - there was great creative energy between the artists, the gallery team and the film crew. I think you will enjoy this video - it is a really relaxed way to "meet the artist" and get a glimpse of the gorgeous new pieces in the gallery. The gallery is open again, and is following the guidelines set by our Health Authorities. I will be at Gallery 421 (located at 560 Raymer Avenue in Kelowna) this Wednesday May 27 from 2-5 pm. Please come by for a visit - I'd love to see you.
