Artist Spotlight Joanna McFarland's non-objective work is inspired and informed by music, especially Jazz, Blues, and classical guitar. She takes liberties with her paint and is free in her choice of colour, shape, and form in response to sound. Following in the footsteps of 20th Century abstract expressionists, Joanna feels an affinity with contemporary non-objective painters such as Kazuo Shiraga, Saburo Murakami, and Lila Lewis Irving.
