Tried something funky...creating florals that don't exist is probably my favorite part about doing henna. Abstract art has always come to me more naturally than art that is structured or organic and I think it shows up a lot in my freehand work where I am given zero instructions. Sometimes I find that as a henna artist, my art has far too many limitations and that really has taken the joy out of creating for me. I can seldom be myself and that can't be very good. I know man...y artists feel the same way about this and it kind of sucks. Not complaining but definitely putting it out there-- you guys aren't alone in feeling that way. There's too many expectations and demands placed on henna artists and there's definitely a lack of fair pricing. Andddd.... there's a hard ceiling when it comes to how well you will be compensated for this art. For example, a MUA who is considered the best in the world per say-- will make thousands a day-- no exaggerating- 1000$ per client- 1-1.5 hour spent per client-- 5 clients per day-- you do the math Henna artist- can't take more than 2-3 bridal clients a day -- each client takes 3-6 hours depending on how well and quick you execute) Depending on how good you are--- your maximum ceiling from working an 8 hour gig may be 1000- 1500-maybe a bit more but this is ONLY if you are THE BEST+ FASTEST in the henna Industry. So guys---, if you are joining henna for the fun of it-- WELCOME!! If you think you will be compensated VERY WELL for your efforts-- please rethink it. It's not a well paying job-- especially when it comes with a side of carpel tunnel and lower back pain.
