These babies got in the warehouse today! It should be about a week and half before they get into stores. We have proudly worked with Gueuzerie Tilquin since 2012, best Gueuze on the planet!
This years Tilquin Lambic order is on the ocean and should be in Alberta in a month. All large bottles, four new beers, some returning classics and of course Tilquins amazing Gueuze.
This will be good for the craft beer industry in Canada! Hopefully the high beer prices and unnecessary trade barriers will disappear. Two trade appeals and i...ntervenors in a Supreme Court case, Bo and I have done our part. Cheers to less tax and cheaper suds!

The Dieu du Ciel/Dandy Brewing collaboration beer hits better beer stores Thursday. Red Shed micro-malted Alberta malt, Quebec hops and Calgary water for an East/West IPA. Brewed at The Dandy Brewing Company!
Wow, cool and my company Artisan Ales Company was part of making this happen! From lover of beer to beer activist to federal beer lobbyist, thats me!
Artisan Ales Consulting Inc.s only election issue this provincial election is beer. This is your current Alberta government spending more of your tax dollars to lose their 4th court case and millions of your tax dollars on this issue. That is this governments fiscal responsibility, please vote wisely on the 16th.

Bo Vitanov, our vice-president, talks with Sheila about our victory over the NDP government and their outrageous beer tax increase (there's a small hiccup in the video, start 1 minute in). It's taken far longer than we expected, but the government lost their bid to hose Artisan Ales and the craft beer consumer. As of Mid-December the beer markup on microbreweries has been reduced. Some of your favourite craft six-packs could be $3.00 cheaper!... Let's drink to that!
Were still celebrating! As we mentioned in an earlier post, Albertas beer tax on small craft breweries has dropped dramatically! We hear that some retailers are already passing on the savings to consumers.... Were toasting this development with a new Dieu du Ciel! seasonal that we just brought into the market, Ete Indien - a mango Berliner Weisse. Cheers!!!!
Weve had a long fight with the government over beer taxes, and we won. The result is that today wholesale prices on craft beer from small breweries will drop significantly. A sixpack of craft beer from the smallest breweries, regardless of origin, will cost $3.00 less when it hits the retail store. This is what our government has been over charging you in beer taxes the last three and half years, remember that next election! It has been a long road, so we hope youll join ...us in raising a pint of more affordable craft beer to celebrate! I am going with Dieu du Ciels new to Alberta ESB, Voyageur des Brumes!
How to brew the perfect pumpkin beer!
De Rankes shipment is now finding its way to Albertas best beer stores. Its the return of their famous XX Bitter, Saison, Saison Noir, Guldenberg Triple, and their amazing sours, Cuvee and Kriek. We also have two new beers from them. The bigger badder version of their famous XX bitter, the XXX, and Back to Black, an old world barrel aged sour porter.
Albertas yearly allocation of Tilquin's Lambic will be starting to show up at Albertas best beer stores next week. For the first time we got large bottles of all the Lambics in the picture and large bottles of Tilquin Stout Rullquin. The fruit lambics are allocated already to special stores as we received such small amounts. ... The Ooude Gueuze Tilquin A Lancienne is in open stock and available for any licensee to order.
Some non-partisan press from American Craft Brewing Business.Com.
Bo our VP rocking The Rebel! Besides our two victories, Bo suggests trade compliant routes to help Alberta's micro-brewing scene. She also explains economics of what the government has done and how Alberta can lower the beer mark ups, making craft beer more affordable. ... Of course The Rebel loves the David and Goliath story of a tiny company beating a government twice.
More press about our victory.
The first of the media about our Agreement on Internal Trade victory.
Artisan Ales has lanced the heart of Albertas discriminatory beer tax policy!! In April of 2016, Artisan Ales filed a formal complaint against Alberta through the Agreement on Internal Trade, a Canadian-wide free trade agreement. This was in response to the changes the NDP government made to Albertas beer mark-up system in October of 2015, which resulted in an unfair, and trade agreement breaking, playing field for Canadian beer in the Alberta market. Back before it became ...fashionable to assert the importance of following trade laws and agreements we felt very strongly that it was imperative that Alberta follow the rules. The Alberta government made changes to their policy in July 2016. Despite being given a number of AIT compliant options they chose to disregard policies yet again. The first trade panel tribunal ruled in favour of Artisan Ales on July 28, 2017. The government of Alberta was told their policy was discriminatory to beer from other provinces. Alberta chose to appeal. Its been a long road, but we are elated to announce that on May 11, 2018 the AIT appeal panel ruled for Artisan Ales again! We now call on Minister Bilous and the Alberta government to follow through on their commitment to abide by the AITs panel ruling, and implement a beer policy that does not contravene trade agreements. We want to thank our hard working lawyer, Ben Grant, the Canadian Constitution Foundation for their support from the start, the government of Saskatchewan for joining our complaint, and all our beer suppliers who supported our efforts. To our many friends in Beer, who have cheered us on throughout this fight, we raise a glass of brew to you! WE WON! See more
As many of you know my company Artisan Ales was an intervenor in the landmark Comeau Supreme Court case, as was the Alberta government and the Alberta Small Brewers Association. The decision was rendered yesterday. Here is a local article covering all three Alberta intervenors opinions of the decision. The Alberta Small Brewers Association and my company were both on Comeaus side for free trade amongst the provinces. The Alberta government was on the side of having trade barriers between the provinces.
Love to see your Peche Day photos! These are from around the world.
Bo, our VP, was interviewed on The Sheila Gunn Reid show on February 14th. Bo explains how the Alberta governments trade agreement breaking and trade war starting beer policy is hurting a number of Alberta based business and how the government is collecting a lot less in taxes while making beer MUCH more expensive. If you are wondering about the mark on Sheilas forehead it was Ash Wednesday when this was recorded.
Congratulations Dieu du Ciel, a nice little piece on them! Were so proud to represent this iconic brewery.
Once again happening in Alberta at both Beer Revolution locations in Calgary and Edmonton.
