Great to see CTV National News cover the mural project on Saturday night. La Fédération québécoise des Sociétés Alzheimer has worked hard to get this message out. http://www.ctvnews.ca//joy-satisfaction-and-sense-of-worth
Here is the first Radio Canada coverage of the Alzheimer mural tour. It is from a session in Gatineau on November 23. They did a great job of showing what it is like after diagnoses. Isolation seems to be the biggest challenge. I had a great time working with my co artists. http://ici.radio-canada.ca//reportage/48389/arts-alzheimer
Here is Radio Canada coverage of the tour for the Alzheimer mural from Tuesday November 28 in Sherebrooke. Télé journal Estrie did a great job of showing the importance of art therapy as well as stimulation from social gatherings. I can’t get over the quality of care offered at every center that I have had the chance to visit. https://www.facebook.com/iciestrie/videos/1785483164797788/
The tour of Alzheimer societies finished this week. On Monday December 5th CTV News covered a session I had at the Alzheimer society of Montreal. The society artists and those helping them really expressed what it is like living with the disease and how therapies like art can make a difference. http://montreal.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=1277298
Having a laugh during a painting session at one of Quebec’s Alzheimer societies.
http://alzheimerquebec.ca/tournee-john-ryan/ Just back from the first part of this project with sessions in Matane and Quebec City. Wonderful people to work with. Each society takes such great care of people affected by Alzheimer's.

It was hard to learn of the recent passing of Elmer Lach followed shortly by Dollard St. Laurent. This painting, completed in 2007, depicts Canadiens veterans Dollard St Laurent, Elmer Lach and Phil Goyette as they appeared in their playing days and as they were in their retirement. The painting was used in support of the Alzheimer Society of Suroit.
Like so many, I was saddened to learn of Jean Beliveau's passing last week. This painting was presented to Jean Beliveau when he became a member of l'Académie des Grands Montérégiens in 1994. It was an honour to have had the opportunity to pay tribute to such an icon of hockey and a great human being.
