Hey come join the members of the Artists' Association at our next Art Jam this Wednesday night at 8 pm. We will be doing a virtual plein air art night! What is plein air art? That is painting or doing your art outside either by yourself or in a group. As Covid is still making our lives fun and challenging, the AAB is bringing you a virtual plein air night. Visit our events tab for the zoom link and come create with us! The location we are visiting virtually is: Signal H...ill National Historic Site, St John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Take a tour around the area using google maps to find the vantage point that inspires you, or use the vantage point that will be broadcast from the AAB account as your inspiration. No experience necessary! Everyone welcome. Housework is optional! Grab your paints, watercolours, mixed media, whatever turns your fancy and come create with us

This month’s ArtJam session is bringing us to warmer climates. It may be a mild winter, but who could say no to the beach? And to keep the beaches clean, we need to reduce waste! I will show you how to make Christmas leftovers into art. Wrapping paper pineapples? Why not? Wednesday January 13, 8pm-9pm. Watch for the zoom link in our event!

BETHANY FULLER, THE ART OF GIVING In the movie A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens describes the act of kindness or giving as one who lightens the burdens of others. When you throw a pebble into the water, you can watch the ripple effect going on and on. Kindness and giving is just like that ripple effect. You never know how far an act of giving will reach. Giving is not always reaching into your pocket for money, some people give their time while others give their talent.... Our featured artist, Bethany Fuller is very generous in giving of herself in time, talent and especially creativity. Bethany, a die-hard multitasker, was crocheting mini poinsettias, even during our interview. Always one to work with her hands, she has been involved in art big and small since grade school. Growing up in a house where creativity and ingenuity and recycling was nurtured and encouraged, Bethany follows in her family’s footsteps with her musical and artistic talent. Her earliest artistic memory is making things for her teddy bears and Barbies. This love of various art forms has blossomed into a love of doing all things creative. After receiving her apprenticeship in millwork at NAIT, this young mom has been at home stewing in creativity. She loves to make functional objects but also loves the pure enjoyment of working with the softness of wool. With a main focus on wool, she has been experimenting with wood, clay, wrapping paper collages, plastic bag plarn, and anything that needs to be recycled. Perhaps we can convince her to do a Zoom class on how to make and use plarn. At our recent ART JAM session, Bethany introduced us to her huge loom that seemed to take up the entire back wall of her room. Not only is she using this loom to create a large mountain wall hanging, she actually built the loom herself, with 200+ nails. So, while she has this huge weaving project on the go, she is also busy with crocheting mini flowers, creating wrapping paper collages, making clay ornaments, building shelves, sconces, and being the treasurer for the AAB and did I mention she is also the mother of a pre-schooler? I fear that once Santa reads this article, she may be headhunted for the position of Head Elf at the North Pole. In spite of all that Bethany does in terms of creating ART KITS for the community and planning Art Jams, she still has an infectious smile and generous heart in giving of her time and talent to the artists and the community of Beaumont. Her advice to people who like to or would like to experiment with art is Just do it! She says you will feel a great sense of satisfaction once you do it. Bethany’s delightful works of art can be seen on her Facebook page Bethany Fuller. Bethany’s creativity is contagious. So, if you would like to catch a healthy dose of creativity and inspiration, join Bethany at our next meeting or ART JAM.
