Many of us are familiar with the benefits of mindfulness and breath meditation. "Loving-kindness" is another type of meditation that can also bring benefits. The practice of loving-kindness can help us to reframe how we relate to ourselves and the people around us.

We are excited to launch our fall workshop series with two FREE workshops on mental health and well-being! Workshop 1 Tuesday, September 21, 7-8 pm (ET)... But what about? Getting Back to Work in the Middle of the Pandemic with Professor Gene Moyle (Queensland University of Technology) and Matt Eldridge (Al & Malka Green Artists' Health Centre) Many of us feel anxious and hesitant about returning to the stage, studio or set for work. When will it happen, and what will it look like? We have been dealing with false starts and uncertainty, and some of us have not worked in 18 months and feel rusty and out of practice. In this workshop, we will talk about self-care tools and strategies to manage your mental health as you work, rehearse or perform in the COVID-19 environment. Through an active discussion, this workshop will cover ways to adapt and prepare yourself mentally for the "new normal." Register here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/but-what-about-getting-back-to-

Here at the Artists Health Centre, we like to highlight what Artists can do to improve well-being. However, every now and then it's also good to pause and reflect on the important role Art itself can play in well-being.

'Not just music listening, but also music making gave [those surveyed] a sense of belonging to a community. Making music, moreover, served as a method for self-reflection, the researchers said.'
