Trump has so destroyed the phrase "Both Sides" that we are considering changing the name of our radio program from "Both Sides Now" to something else. Any ideas for a radio program on Vancouver Coop Radio that works to provide information on mental health to the general public? All ideas wanted and will be considered!

Are you surviving COVID19? My radio show on Coop Radio has been focused on issues that come up around COVID19. We have looked at mental health issues and resources; what happens for kids; spent two shows answer your questions; examined anxiety and depression; and chatted with experts on how to cope with homeschooling. This Tuesday we will be talking to Tracy Porteous discussing how COVID and social distancing intensifies domestic violence leaving victims in dire situations... and how to help. You can find these podcasts at www.bothsidesnowbc.com/podcasts. If you have a story around COVID19 and social distancing - get in touch. Let's chat.

Coming to Voice: Surviving an Abusive Therapist by Bernadine: Ms. Sleeth was a well-known expert around child sexual abuse working with some of the most profoundly traumatized survivors. Emma was one of Pam’s clients.... In October of 2015, a year after her death, a women’s sexual assault center in Vancouver BC announced an event to honor Sleeth's feminist work to end violence against women. Pamela had, at one point, saved Emma's life. She had also transformed into one of Emma's worst predators. The space between Pamela’s impressive contributions and Emma’s experience of her is this memoir. Now Available on Kobo and Amazon

CBC interviewed me regarding the abuse I suffered at the hands of my therapist Pamela Sleeth. Best part for me: their lawyers went over my story and my evidence and like forensic psychiatrist Dr Colin Ross (who wrote the Foreword to my memoir Coming To Voice: Surviving an Abusive Therapist) and like the Crime Victims Assistance Program (who confirmed the victimization) agreed to name my abuser. As Pam always said 'It is important to name who is doing what to whom.' Abuse b...y therapists is a grossly underreported and misunderstood issue. Victims are being silenced or worse - made to believe it is a romantic relationship. I am so relieved that this issue is finally being discussed out loud. Psychotherapy may finally be regulated in B.C., following move by several other provinces https://www.cbc.ca//bc-therapy-counselling-regulation-1.53

So often all the commercials and programs about wonderful Holi...day Magic can be very depressing for others. Both Sides Now is looking for folks to come in for a group chat and/or one-on-one about the holidays and why it is difficult and what folks have found that helps them get through.
