I remember December 30th, 2019. It was a day that changed my view of the upcoming year in one of the most painful ways. I grieved and mourned the upcoming year of 2020 before it even started. I had no idea what stood in front of me. A #pandemic , changing our life plans, our city, our decision for schooling for our toddler. And that thing I was so worried about shaping My 2020? It never happened BECAUSE of the pandemic. This year has taught me so much about what I need ...and don’t need in life to feel fulfilled, like no manicures, pedicures and eyebrow threading since March. No haircuts or dyes for either lockdown so far but I was lucky to get ONE cut and ONE colour this year lol . What I DO need is to move my body. Whether it’s through dance or exercise, I need it to be the best me. I also need my #husband , #son and #bernesemountaindog . They ground me, give me purpose and round out my life in ways I can’t begin to explain. I also need my health, and that includes my mental, emotional and spiritual health. Therapy has been a strong focus as much as my workouts and prayer . What this year has taught me is that the energy we spend on what could lie ahead is a waste compared to the energy we can spend on the #hereandnow . I wasted an entire day dreading the upcoming 8 months leading to August 2020 which never ended up happening. Instead, a pandemic shifted my focus and made me grateful. So, bring on tomorrow because that’s as far as I’m willing to spend my energy on what’s to come. Dearest Winston, Happy Birthday! Today you turn 9. When we embarked on becoming fur-parents we knew that anything after 8 years was a blessing, but over the last month you’ve proven that every day, every hour and every minute is a precious gift. In the last month we watched your mobility and ability to swallow decline. You never complained, never became grumpy or changed your behaviour to us. Thanks to our amazing vet, Dr. Fisher, at WestOak Animal Hospital and the Neurology... team at the Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital, we were able to figure out what was happening and start a treatment. We still had to hand feed you and provide you water with a syringe, and you trusted us completely to care for you, and nurse you back to health. We have a long way to go but you’ve proven to us that a dog’s love is immeasurable. Your place in our family is permanent, and we are tremendously lucky that you chose us on that fateful day at the breeder by placing your tiny paw on my lap to ask me to hold you. I’ll never let you go my sweet boy. Happy Birthday and to many more amazing memories together

It’s been a minute since my last post. More like months. We’ve moved cities and are gearing up to celebrate our first Christmas in the new house. I must admit that singing Christmas carols in the hot tub is quickly becoming our favourite family activity. Merry Christmas to all of our friends and family. Dear Art Of Dance Friends and Family, I hope you’re staying safe, staying healthy and that you’re all adjusting to the new routines that September has brought (whether that’s at work, school, or life in general). There have been A LOT of changes that have happened both personally and professionally, so let me give you the full update. ... Just over a month ago, I received notice that our studio space was being sold. @soundobsessionent has been our home for almost 7 years, and the decision to sell is the right one for their business and customers. I wish @thisisthomasj and the entire Sound Obsession team the very best in their new home and ventures, and as always, they’ll keep the party going! As I was searching for new studio space, my Husband and I began to reflect upon what the next 12 months would look like. We’ve been very fortunate to remain employed, while having the flexibility to be home with Zavier. We realized that with home schooling as an option, and the studio closing, we could potentially start to look at moving closer to Zavier’s cousins. If Zavier was going to be home, and away from peers, it would be ideal for him to be with cousins who were also home from school. Well, once that thought entered our minds and hearts, it was as if God had a plan. We found our dream home in Lakeshore and will be moving in November! It’s an exciting time, but very bittersweet. Since moving from Trinidad, I’ve only ever lived in Oakville. Saying goodbye to the only city I’ve ever lived in is already tough to envision, however when I see Zavier with his cousins, and see a life that I know he’ll thrive in, it was too hard to pass that up. And just in case you’re wondering, yes, I’ll be teaching and dancing in #windsor . The dance scene there is growing, and I’m super excited to start a new venture as soon as we’re settled in. A HUGE thanks to Sound Obsession for being our home, and for all the support. A BIG thanks to the GTA dance scene, @events_by_annag and everyone else who have made Art Of Dance Oakville the warm and welcoming space it became to all of its visitors. On to the next chapter..Art Of Dance Lakeshore??...I’ll work on it
