National Day for Truth and Reconciliation On September 30, we honour the lost children and survivors of residential school, their families, and the strength of their communities. This week we have dedicated our studies to educating, reflecting, and listening to the Indigenous voices and communities. Today we will be reflecting, learning and listening. Our academy has always, and will always support and recognize the Indigenous, First Nations, Métis communities, their heritage and their history! Together we walk the path towards healing and reconciliation. Pictured above is our artistic director, Ms. Victoria Mironova, students of our academy, and members of the indigenous community. On this day in 2013, we came together, singing, dancing, and observing the sacred pow wow of the North American indigenous communities. We wish that our bond will forever grow stronger and more resilient. Mathematics Competition Results In June 2021 Arts and Science Academy of Canada participated in the Math League contest, a highly recognized international mathematics competition for grades 4, and 5 and Algebra for all grades. Arts and Science Academy of Canada ranked #35 out of 366 participating schools. Many schools were represented only by their best math students, whereas all of our students were given the opportunity to participate regardless of their anticipated resul...ts. Our student, Mark A., was ranked #1 and Talia P. was ranked #206 out of 398 top participants. Even the last place in this competition is a huge achievement. In the Algebra contest, Arts and Science Academy of Canada ranked #42 out of 156 participating schools. Congratulations to our brilliant students on an incredibly successful year of learning! One year ago today, we had the honour of welcoming WWII veteran Gerry Grossman to our academy. Mr. Grossman shared his powerful stories with our students, and our children gifted Mr. Grossman with dances, poems, flowers, and thanked him for his bravery and service.
