Good Morning, Final Art Adventure Away Mission: Guiding Light-House... This weeks art mission will infuse the ocean theme one last time and celebrate the nautical symbolism of the lighthouse. Id like to think of our school as a lighthouse, especially in these times of change, as it has been a solid, strong support that has surely helped me (and I hope you too) navigate through the stormy weather of adjusting to the new ways of these times. We can trust that ArtsCalibre will continue to be a guiding light for our school family as we move into the future. This art adventure away will also use theme and symbolism to create and connect an image to someone in our world who represents and inspires strength, courage and purpose within us. Hi Miss Tara For my art project this week I decided to try making salt crystals. I tried them 2 different ways. One didnt work out but the other one did. I started them on Wednesday and they are now on the dry rack. I will be adding ribbon and making them into ornaments once they are dry. I liked this project. Audrey enjoyed imagining her own art project this week! She was inspired by the Something Beautiful story and wanted to create something beautiful to hang in her bedroom! Audrey imagined her piece to be sparkly and shiny and to include texture and a few different art techniques. We documented the many steps she took to get to the finished product and attached a photo here to show you along with another shot of her proudly showing her masterpiece! First, Audrey us...ed the tape-resist technique to create a pattern over her page. Once complete she carefully outlined every tape edge in a thin line of sparkly black glue. After the glue was dry she removed her tape and could see how the glue created a beautiful pattern over her page and could feel the texture of the raised outline. From here, Audrey used her pearlized watercolor paints to fill in the design. She chose two different colors to bleed together for each section to make it appear like stained glass. Once her watercolors dried she took sparkly silver glue and painted it in each tape line. Working quickly before the glue dried, she sprinkled white glitter over the lines. The glitter created a lovely texture that contrasted perfectly with the smooth painted sections!
