It has been a very busy week registering campers and I am so excited to say that afternoon camps are now FULL. Whoooo-hoooo! I am able, thru Faith Community Church, to open a camp offered in the mornings of Week 2, Week 3, and Week 4. This would run 9am-12 pm. Today I am very happy to announce that Summer Spree Art Camps are finally here!! The camps are offered over 4 weeks in July and August. As in the past Monday - Friday, 1:00 - 4:00 pm, ages 6-12. This year, of course, sees many changes. AHS Covid Guidelines for Day Camps is attached and will be strictly adhered to. Each artist will have their own station for the week. Each station will be a table set up entirely for that artist only with appropriate distancing between stations.... All supplies and surfaces cleaned daily. Hand washing and sanitizing stations will be set up around the facility. Due to Glenora Community Hall undergoing renovations Faith Community Church in Glenora (10405 142 St.) has opened its doors to us with a great space to create in and its just a couple blocks west of the hall. Notan Paper Art Today's LIVE workshop took a look at the concept Notan. Notan is a Japanese term which literally means "light dark harmony". Artists use "notan studies" to explore different arrangements of light and dark elements in a painting, without having the distraction of other elements like color, texture and finer details. Notan art traditionally uses paint, ink or cut paper. These are examples of notan in the extreme, black and white graphic shapes. The study of notan can be found in many paintings that also include shades of grey. These also show the balance, push and pull of the shapes with positive and negative space.
