Couldn't sleep, sirens 3x in our neighbourhood. So finished the larger pair and decided to do the smaller pair.

In 2016 I travelled to Winnipeg with my eldest son Travis. The house I went to see was Louis Riel's home. I am a Red River Metis and am proud to say I live and follow our distinct culture to the best of my ability.

Onyx is the traditional black gemstone and has been used since ancient times in jewelry and as a healing stone. Solid black onyx is smooth and has a vitreous luster, but is not a shiny stone. When cut en cabochon, the stones luster is maximized. Solid black onyx is rare in nature, and most black onyx found on the market is dyed to achieve its color and produce even saturation. Black onyx is a relatively durable gemstone, at 7 on the Mohs scale. It has very good wearability and is fairly tough. However, rough handling can cause onyx to chip or crack. Although onyx used to be highly valuable in the past, today it is inexpensive and considered a minor gemstone.

New rings... Going through the Joanne wear cleaning and dishes test! Once I know they can stand up to my rigorous standards (testing only 1) I will put them up. :) These are made from coated copper wire and onyx.
