Are you making this common TFSA mistake? Many Canadians are misusing their #TFSA by holding cash and #GICs in them. While it is true that it will earn you tax free interest, the amount you save in taxes does not warrant its use for that purpose - especially when interest rates are often below 0.50%. Instead, invest in your TFSA using mutual funds and #ETFs, where the potential for gain is much greater, and any growth will accrue tax free to you. #Investing #TWMG Inc.

I’ve received a recurring question throughout RRSP season: Should I invest in a #TFSA or #RRSP. The answer? It depends. On what? Your goals, means, and tax bracket! The tax bracket explanation is simple, and CI Global Asset Management has developed a calculator for you to visualize it. Simply put, if you plan to use your RRSP for retirement, then the RRSP will bring you more value if you’ll be in a lower tax bracket upon retiring. #RRSP season comes along and you realize that although you should do RRSPs, unfortunately, you don’t have enough saved up. Does this sound like you? Don’t fret! You’ll still be able to invest in your #retirement by way of an RRSP loan. As interest rates are at all time lows, you’ll be able to easily top up your RRSP, receive your refund, and then use that to pay off a good part of the loan in order to reduce your monthly payments. Try to pay it off in a year. Once that’s done, and you’ve established the habit, make a plan to continue to invest the same amount in your RRSP going forward. #Investing #TWMG Inc.
