Hello Parish Family and Friends! We have suspended our own livestream during the provincial stay at home order to keep our clergy, musicians and technical support team safe. A message from our interim Priest In Charge Rev Dr John Stephenson: Dear members and friends of the Ascension, As you know, the provincial government has mandated a new period of strict Lockdown across the entire province. In Hamilton, the rising numbers of COVID19 cases and deaths are especially troubling. The virus has now affected even several of our members. ... This past week, Bishop +Susan has amended the Diocese's guidelines to reflect the urgency of the present moment. After much thought, the wardens and I have made the decision to suspend our weekly live-streamed service from the Church. Further, in compliance with our government and our Bishop's guidelines, the church is now once again closed. We are very aware of the loss that this brings for everyone associated with the Church of the Ascension. However, we are working to maintain a meaningful worship and devotional life for our members and friends. Going forward for as long as this present Lockdown continues, here is what we hope to offer: Beginning this Monday, each week there will be three worship opportunities: Each Monday: A Morning Prayer Service will be emailed to you including announcements and the weekly Prayer list. This service can be said either alone or with family members any day during the week. Each Friday: I will email to you a reflection on the Gospel of the week. Each Sunday evening: John Laing our Music Director and I will offer live-streamed from our homes a time of hymn-singing followed by a Service of Compline. It is our hope that this will be a blessing to you as you look to the week ahead. These new innovations will begin this coming Monday: January 18. This coming Sunday morning, there will be no service from the Ascension. We hope you would join Bishop +Susan for her service of Morning Prayer at 10:00 am. We will post her service here on our own Facebook page. These are indeed troubling times but we do not go through them alone. Our Lord by his Spirit is with us and we have each other. Please stay in touch with your friends by telephone, text, and social media. We will emerge from this and with God's help we will emerge stronger.
