Do you fear lifting heavy weights?! I’m going to share something with you mommayou shouldn’t. Do you know why? Cause your kiddos and everything they come with (diaper bags, car seats, strollers, ect) are heavyand you are picking that stuff up every day. I’m not sure where the belief came from that women shouldn’t lift heavy weightsbut in yesterday’s blog I bust some of the myths around why women shouldn’t lift heavy weights. The number of times I have heard in my caree...r women (of all ages) say I don’t want to lift heavy weights cause I don’t want to get bulky tears at my heart. Although I always try to respect one’s feelings when they express these kinds of thoughts I also feel it is my job to educate these women on the fact that it’s just simply not true. Your life requires you to lift heavy things and if you’re a mom you are doing this DAILY! So instead of looking at weights as a negative thing that is going to make you bulky let’s look at lifting weights as the way that you are training for your everyday lifecause guess what mommait is true! Health and fitness goals are daunting to any person, but to a mom who’s got a household to look after and kiddos to chase, this task can seem downright overwhelming. Yesterday, we talked about what tiny habits are and why you need them in your life. Tiny habits can absolutely be used for anyone but I think that they are certainly overly applicable to busy moms. When you start to implement tiny habits in your life like setting out your running shoes the night before or flos...sing one tooth, they seem like things that even the busiest of moms can masterand that is exactly the point. No matter how busy or overwhelmed you are these tiny habits should be so tiny that you can complete them even on the busiest of days. Some days you might set your running shoes out and that’s as far as you get (great, you completely your tiny habit) but other days, you may take it a step further and put them on and get outside for a walk or a run. When you set tiny habits like this you are able to build your confidence and begin to build on these habits more and more as you get comfortable with your tiny habits. This can help lead to long-term success and adherence to any behaviour you are looking to change (even if it’s not health/fitness related). Give it a try and choose one tiny habit today to get started.
