Our indusrty has been hit hard and we have worked endless hours and contiune to work hard for our clients even though we are not getting paid to do so. Yes the airlines should refund clients because they did not provide a service, however travel agents have provided and are still providing a service for their clients. Would you work for no pay? As a Travel Professional I continue to advocate and fight for client refunds. In doing so, and the way it stands right now, if a client receives that refund, I am forced to pay back the commission/wage that I earned in 2019 and 2020. I continue to work for my clients. The airlines are currently asking the Federal Government for financial assistance. The Government is considering this assistance, would make refunds to passengers mandatory and a part of the deal. Therefore, ...we as agents would continue to have our earnings clawed back by the tour operators and airlines as it is now. Travel agents are petitioning the Government to protect us as part of the deal with the airlines.
