Ontario residents will soon be calculating their net income for 2016 in the course of preparing their 2016 income tax returns. That information can then be used to find which refundable provincial tax credits they will be eligible for in 2017, and to receive an estimate of the actual amounts they can receive. The government of Ontario provides an online calculator to allow provincial residents to make that calculation, and that online calculator is available at https://www.ontario.ca/page/tax-credit-calculator. To use the calculator, Ontario residents must provide their age, net income for 2016, marital status, number of children living with them, and other details of their living arrangements and costs. Most refundable tax credits are paid to eligible residents of the province on a monthly basis.
