Who are we? Part 2 Our second purpose is to help identify areas where the laws could be improved to help protect people who could find themselves in a potentially dangerous social setting. This could include the creation of new laws or working on the enforcement of existing laws. Our task will involve communicating, lobbying or other related methods of achieving this goal. As seen from our initial posts, we will be following up on the recommendations made at the Ashley Fair fatality inquiry. Stay tuned for our final purpose - Who are we? Part 3

Who are we? We have had some requests from people to provide more information on what this page and foundation is all about. There is a full description if you follow the "about" tab and the arrow to the detailed page information. Today we want to concentrate on one part of our purpose. ... Our goal is to create awareness with young adults (and older if necessary)who go out in a social setting may hold dangers, regardless of how safe the setting may appear to be. This is not just about party buses. It could include bars, clubs, homes, bush parties and many other venues. We intend to create and promote awareness through social media that being safe includes being "aware" of one's surroundings, being accountable to themselves for making it home, and being accountable to the people they go out with for making it home. Our web site is still under construction and we will be unveiling it with more information as soon as it is ready, but we do want to spread our message as fast as we can. Hopefully we can save someone's life! That is why we ask you to like and share this page with your friends. We will have another update as to our purpose over the next few days!

This is a good example of our message to young people. No one should be left behind, everyone should get home. Have a plan when you go out and make sure your friends get home too!

Today, August 27, 2015, the Honourable Judge S.E. Richardson will be releasing her report to the Minister of Justice and Solicitor General of Albert with respect to the Fatality Inquiry of Ashley Fair. On April 18, 2011 Ashley was killed after being left behind by a party bus on Highway 16. The Inquiry investigated the circumstances around which the death occurred. As a result of this process, there are 7 recommendations: 1. ALGC inspectors should have the statutory authori...ty to pull over public conveyances with class B licenses to monitor compliance with the terms of the license, in the same way that inspectors have the authority to enter and monitor compliance in a building premises. 2.All class B licenses should include the requirement to report any breaches of the terms of the license in a timely manner. 3. All staff working on a public conveyance with a Class B liquior license should have the ProServe and ProTech course. 4. There should be a required ratio of staff to patrons on limo buses where alcohol is served sufficient to permit the health and safety of patrons and staff. 5. All class B licencees should have a written policy on how to ensure and maintain the health and safety of patrons and staff while in the public conveyance. This should include the requirement to maintain a list of passengers and a contact person for each patron, in the event of medical or other distress during transport. 6. A licensee should be prohibited from removing someone from a motor vehicle without first arranging for and waiting for the attendance of another person, whether family or first responder. 7. All class B licenses should require that the public conveyance be equipped with an operational cell phone or other ability to call for assistance if required. Our first task will be to contact the Alberta government and encourage them to implement these recommendations at minimum. We will also expand this work to other Canadian provinces.

Who are we? - Part 3 Our third purpose is to assist the social or entertainment industry by identifying what a "Socially Accountable" business would do as far as following "best practices". This would include integration with legal and licensing standards, as well as application of systems for continuous compliance. We will encourage and promote our "safe" businesses! Once again, please support us by sharing our page so that we can get our message out further.

Here is what we are trying to say about getting home safe! This is a copy of a recent post from a friend of the page. Please share this and let your friends know they need to have a plan. "So tonight I made Mike take me out, even though we spent most of the day trying to get his mom to the Santa parade. Well we finally got to the Santa's anonymous party. Late but there... on our way out we came across a girl who seemed very lost but knew she was staying at the Banff springs... hotel. I immediately loaded her into our cab and took her there. She had lost her wallet but was sober enough to answer the questions to get her to her room. After getting her settled and making her promise to stay put, I got back in the cab, Mike waiting . As we headed down the road I saw another young girl, no coat, struggling in high heels, and I knew she must be the friend of the girl I just helped. As it turns out I was right, loaded her in the cab and got her back to the hotel . They were both dressed just as I would have been, going out on the town, twenty years ago. ... Mike and I were too late to bid on anything at the Santa's anonymous tonight, but I'd like to think our money was well spent getting these girls "home" safe. I just want to thank all the angels. We are all here for reason" See more
