P R O J E C T: I love working on new things and this is a really big thing for me. I love to give and thats exactly what this project is going to accomplish. Our wedding industry has a lot of work to do when it comes to acknowledging newer vendors, not just planners but all wedding pros. Its so obvious that the more "seasoned" ones don't want to bother with the newer ones, its some lame "they haven't earned their stripes" attitude. Of course no one stops to recall that they w...ere once the ones starting out as well right? Yeah, I see you! I'll never be the type who doesn't acknowledge where I came from and how I worked so hard to get to where I am. I welcome working with ALL new vendors, you've got to start somewhere but if no one gives you the chance...they actually set you up to fail. Sad. To me, that's not a community, its the same garbage we are watching happen in the big world with those at the top of the food chain and those who are snubbed and deemed not good enough. Wine and cheese vs rice and peas...I'm calling it how I see it- opinions aren't required! This project is a milestone for me and I will not forget those who played an integral part to its manifestation. I've learned so much and realized that as long as I continue to follow my instincts and observe characters, I'll never end up working with the wrong people. 2 0 2 0: Over the past few weeks, I’ve spent a considerable amount of time thinking about how I can help. Today, the Toronto GTA region exceeded 1000 new cases of Covid. Anyone who knows me well knows that more than anything I'm a realist. "Let's hope for the best" or "It will all be fine"...not me. I try very hard to not have unrealistic expectations and this situation this year is absolutely no different. Of course I would love to see so badly, things go back to "normal" b...ut I think its safe and wise to assume- this is the new normal and we need to manage it. The events and hospitality industries are in rough shape and might be for some time. With that being said, I'll be announcing in a few weeks a very special service I've been working on that will help provide an amazing alternatives to couples who are planning for a "normal" 2021 wedding but who might not get it. As a planner, you've got to have a back up plan and a back up plan for thr back up plan...I've got your back. Whether Covid stays or at some point goes...my back up plan for the back up plan is almost ready. I love you all and to my fellow weddi g pros, keep your head high and keep pushing. J U S T the two of us. This is why I started this business: When its all said and done, all that's left beneath the linens, flower arches, 2 tiered cakes and fancy outfits are two people who love one another.... What's more important than giving and showing love and having it be recognized and reciprocal? Not much. (aside from food guys...) Ben + Desiree had to postpone until next year and even then, they've taken into consideration the circumstances and decided on a smaller wedding than the originally planned 70 guests. H A P P Y 1 M O N T H anniversary to my darlings Dom+Bobby. There aren't enough words to accurately describe just how incredible these two humans are. The obstacles they overcame this year on top of post-poning their wedding twice this year due to Covid restrictions. From the moment Dom and I got on the phone, it felt like I had known her my whole life, we clicked in a way I've never connected to a client before, like she was my sister. So much of both are pasts are intertw...ined, she was even born the same month and year my brother died. The moment we realized we had Cobourg, Ottawa AND wedding planning in common...it was in the bag. There were so many beautiful, heartfelt moments on this day. So many details that I felt were necessary to make this the most romantic, special day, I wanted everything to be unique to Dom and Bobby. I can't fathom what my year would've been like not having been able to plan their sweet, intimate day, and getting to meet and spend time with their amazing families (which BTW I am the new adopted daughter, I've given myself that position lol!). These two and their nearest dearest deserve the world and thensome. To say it was my honor and privilege would be the understatement of the year. These two felt like home. I love you both so much, happy one month anniversary, I am the most fortunate planner to have had such fun-loving, raw and genuine pair of humans to call my friends. Can't wait til next year, it will be EPIC and Bobby...you and I and Tequila-its happening.
