This 24" X 36" photograph was ready for the Images Studio Tour but the really big boss decided it should hang above our fireplace. Guess I have some more work to do printing and framing another.

Entering into the Valley of Fire State Park just starts to take your breath away. Such an array of colours of the limestone rock open up as you get into the park. Click on the picture to see the panorama view.

A walk in the forest can be mysterious and calming at the same time.

The blood moon last night was spectacular in the desert. I have never stayed up to see one and so happy I did. Three of us ventured out at 4:00pm to find a grea...t spot for moon rise at 5:30. It was great on its own and I will post some pics later. But this was the prize at about 10:00 pm high above the mountains. The coyotes were howling around us and a little eerie. No light pollution and the clouds cooperated and stayed west of where we were. I think this adventure wlll make a good post on my new blog page on my website. http://www.ashoeboxofmemories.com/ See more

Another year is passing us by again. This one filled with lots of ups and downs. As a photographer, I have learned to seek out, stop, and enjoy the simple thin...gs we pass by every day. These are the things that can bring so much brightness into our lives. Wishing all my Facebook Friends a very happy NEW YEAR. Hope 2019 brings you continued good health and happiness and an opportunity to take some time to enjoy simplicity. See more

I love to find old buildings and take a picture looking out to see what people of those times would see. This was taken inside an old stone building with a huge open fireplace near the window.

Yesterday while out doing my normal desert photo search, I scared up 2 Horned Owls in a Mesquite Tree. Not sure who scared "hoo" the most. In any event they di...dn't far and settled in another tree. I took note and walked back to the vehicle to my longer lens. Approaching the new location slowly one flew again and the other stayed. Walking extremely slow towards the tree I saw the owl and he saw me but decided to see what I was up to. Long story short, I was blessed with having about 25 minutes to slowly circle the tree for a good clear shot. This was my end result. ( by the way Arni Stinnissen- shot with a Nikon :) See more

"The Cabin" had all the comforts of home. A barrel to set on and a bed to sleep on. Comfort would have been a luxury in those days.

A Shoebox Of Memories 01.05.2020

I just love finding old remnants of history. I revisited the old cabin the other day and took some time thinking about how lonely but peaceful it must have been in the middle of nowhere. I have a few more pictures to come from "The Cabin"

Today was the last day of the Images Studio Tour 2018. While it may have been a few gray dreary days outside, the 4 day event was full of wonderful conversation and meeting new people, listening to compliments and oh yes some sales all on the inside. A big thanks to all my friends who supported me by coming out to my studio stop at the Leacock Museum or shared my posts and my art. Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends.

Mike Bailey feels there is something spiritual about watching the sun rise or set over the land. The changing light, the drama in the sky and the weather provid...e endless opportunities for capturing magical moments. Self -taught through experimenting, failing, trying harder, reading and feeling, he has learned to see what is in front of him. He values his photography, choosing to share a unique view of the world without using descriptive words. He prints, custom mats and frames all of his own images as well as provides custom work for others using archival inks and materials. To see more of Mike's work go to his website at: www.ashoeboxofmemories.com For more information and location maps go to: www.images-studio-tour.com See more

I have always been intrigued with old machinery. This was taken in Fort McMurray. One of the earlier digging machines in open Pit mining. It was at the front end of a long conveyer earth moving piece of equipment that was at least 500 feet long. The small trees at the bottom stood about 6 feet tall to give you some perspective.

Balance in Nature. Its that time of the year when mother natures canvas starts to change. Something new, something old. Together it can all work together in life.
