Today I was working on Mae’s BFF Opal when Mae snuggled up close and reaped the energetic rewards of the releases Opal was feeling. Look at how relaxed both girls are. Opal blows, and almost simultaneously Mae licks and chews, as though she can feel it too....guess what, she can! I often joke that this is my 2 for 1 or massage by proxy...it happens OFTEN that 1 or more horses who I am not working on begin to relax and release as I’m working on another horse. Yesterday while working on a client horse just outside her pen we turned around and the other 4 horses had migrated to the closest corner, heads down, soaking up all the feels. Energy exists between us, it is always around us, even though we can’t see it, it’s there. And it’s even more pronounced with horses...we just need to pay attention tune in

As responsible equestrians, we need to be mindful of when and HOW we start young horses. In addition to the maturing bones, we should consider other factors too. * Mental maturity * Horses understanding and experience with groundwork * Comfort level with tack being used... * Duration of work being requested * Type of work being requested * Size of the horse vs. Size of the rider & weight of tack....DON’T unfairly overload! There are so many more but I don’t necessarily think there is a magic age when a horse can/should be started, rather a set of circumstances that need to be considered. What else would you add to my small list?
