As the province of BC transitions into Phase 2 of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Aspen Medical Centre will still remain CLOSED for all in office appointments. We will continue doing all appointments over the telephone as we have been doing the last two months. If any in office appointments are required or necessary it will be determined by Dr. Howie having a telephone appointment with you first. A specific date and time will be given along with strict guidelines and questions aske...d prior to booking your in office appointment as well as when entering the clinic. Our main focus is to continue to keep our patients, as well as ourselves, safe during this time, therefore we believe this decision is what is best. We will continue to keep all of our patients up to date with any changes. Please feel free to contact the office by phone for any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. See more
To my patients, I am taking this unusual step to write to you personally regarding the COVID-19 virus. You will have heard the directive from our Provincial Health Officer, Dr Bonnie Henry, to self-isolate and practice social distancing. The time to act is now. Our province is in a state of emergency. What we do today will impact the health of British Columbians in the weeks to come.... Stay home unless absolutely necessary. No dinner parties. No shopping. No sports, not even outside. Instead, have coffee with a friend online. Keep six feet or two metres away from everyone at all times. Thats about the width of a car or two length of two arms stretched out. Call your loved ones and tell them to do the same. Remind young people in your life that they can get sick from this virus. More importantly, they can be carriers and cause a lot of harm to parents, grandparents, and other loved ones. We can do this, but we cant wait one more hour or one more day. Lets save lives, together. Social media is one of the most effective ways to connect. You can share simple messages on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and other social media channels. Here just a few simple examples, feel free use these to get you started. The time is now. Stay home, and keep a safe distance from others when outside. #stay-home #BCdocs Stay home. Keep a safe distance from others. Do it for the people you love, if not yourself. #stay-home #BCdocs We cant defeat COVID-19 alone. Please, stay home. Keep a safe distance from others when outside. #stay-home #BCdocs We care about our patients and our communities. Stay home, keep a safe distance from others when outside. We can do this together. #stay-home #BCdocs
As of Monday March 23 we will be doing most appointments over the phone. We are in the process of contacting patients who are already booked for appointments to advise of this change. If you have any questions or concerns dont hesitate to contact the office. Thank you.
Please read the following carefully: The symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to other respiratory illnesses, including the flu and common cold. They include cough, sneezing, fever, sore throat and difficulty breathing. Contact your healthcare provider if you have developed symptoms and have been in close contact with someone known to have COVID-19. Do the same if you develop symptoms and have been in contact with a traveller returning from an affected area with widespread comm...unity spread of COVID-19. Canada has active COVID-19 travel advisories for: China France Germany Hong Kong Iran Italy Japan Singapore South Korea Spain Hawaii Canada is also recommending that Canadians avoid all cruise ship travel due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. B.C. health officials say they are now discouraging "all non-essential travel" outside of Canada due to the growing COVID-19 outbreak. Anyone who decides to travel abroad must stay home from work or school for 14 days upon their return to the province, according to health officials. Tell your health-care professional: your symptoms; where you have been traveling or living; if you had close contact with a sick person, especially if they had a fever, cough or difficulty breathing and have traveled abroad. Call ahead to the clinic you so we can be prepared to take precautions. In an emergency, describe your symptoms, travel history and any sick contacts when you first arrive at the clinic so that appropriate precautions can be taken.
