Although Christmas, and holiday celebrations will look different this year, we still want you and your furry family members to have a safe holiday season! Here are some safety tips for your furry critters; Food: Keep people food away from curious pets. Make sure your snacks are up and out of reach! Avoid sharing high fat foods, such as gravy! Keep the trash can out of reach so scraps are not accessible, and of course, keep chocolate, nuts, raisins, and candies away from your ...pets! Plants: ensure all toxic houseplants are up and out of reach! This includes, but is not limited to; holly, mistletoe, poinsettias, and Christmas lilies! Guests: if you ARE having a small gathering, ensure your pets have the ability to escape the chaos if they are feeling overwhelmed. Lights/candles: keep your pets away from open flames to avoid a potential disaster. Also ensure any indoor lights, and the cords are out of reach of curious chewers! Alcohol: ensure any alcoholic drinks are up so your furry family members can’t get their paws on them! Tinsel: cats in particularly find tinsel irresistible! We recommend avoiding it all together! If ingested it can cause serious health problems. Weather: during the winter season, we want to ensure your animals are warm and comfortable. If you’re cold, they are cold. Make sure they are brought inside and not left outside for extended periods of time! HAPPY NATIONAL VETERINARY TECHINICIAN WEEK! What you may not know about our nurses, I’ll try to explain in the following verses.... They go to school and learn anesthesia, Phlebotomy, dentistry and analgesia! That’s just the start...lab and x-ray technician.... To care for your pet was their ambition. Restraint, educator, a shoulder to cry on, Truly someone that all vets rely on. They are compassionate, caring, dedicated and more. That’s why this week we can never ignore! National veterinary tech week has begun, So I wrote them this rhyme to start off the fun! We acknowledge them, for all that they do, In the clinic for us...and with your pets for you. It is with a heavy heart that we announce that this is the last week of Dr Laura Lenhardt’s employment. She has been a valuable part of the Aspen Springs team for over 5 years. She has been a great doctor and an esteemed colleague. We know both the staff and the clients will miss her but in these unprecedented times Dr Laura has chosen to move on, to do what is best for her family. We support her in her decision but we are sad to see her go. We are exploring t...he possibility of some ‘Dr Laura Saturdays’ for those people that can’t live without her.
