Due to the extreme heat and humidity today Friday July 24th train is closed. It is over 500 degrees were I sit behind the engine with full gear on. I have had heat stroke under this conditions and it is not fun. Also with extreme heat the Park and Zoo look very quiet thus causing lack of business as well, See you Saturday if not raining.

On Sunday we had the pleasure of having Adam Bighill and family ride the train. Grey Cup Champion of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. On another note still collecting money for Taylor Crosbie liver transplant. After four day promotion which 4.600 hundred was raised. I still have a donation box at ticket office and have raised 53 dollars this week. If public still wants donate I will gladly accept donations on her behalf. She has not worked in over a year and is on waiting list for transplant in Toronto. Taylor will be in the hospital for about a month in Toronto. With family flying back and fourth staying in hotel. Thanks to everyone for your donations and riding the train crowds have been good the last few weeks. Thanks again.

Tuesday July 14th Thanks again everybody coming out to the train. I know some people,e are waiting up to 40 minutes. But as we all know lineups are the new normal now. First we spray the coaches were people are sitting it takes 11 minutes for this chemical to kill the virus if it is on the train. Second we have social distance the train itself with every second section closed. We can only take 25 to 30 people at time. Only way we can sit people together is immediate large fam...ilies up to 50 people according to Manitoba Health Guidelines. And finally everyone needs to hand clean if you have your own great. And finally as you all know if you been following the last several days the free rides for donations for Taylor Crosbie liver transplant has come to an end. But if any future patrons want to donate there is a GO FUND ME PAGE and or I WILL CONTINUE TO TAKE DONATIONS ALL SEASON OR UNTIL SHE HAS HER TRANSPLANT DONE. Thank you See more

So today was the last day were if customers donated to Taylor Crosbie liver transplant for keeping there ride tickets for free ride down the road. I ran this fo...r four days started Thursday July 9th raised 772.20 from the patrons less 100 hundred dollars I donated, Friday July 10th raised 822.70, Saturday July 11th the best day 1,239.10 and today Sunday July 12th then final day 803.25. For a Fantastic final total of $3,637.25. To bad it rained for an hour we could have maybe raised a little more. But as I said I thought with economic tough times with this Covid I thought we would only raise 1,000 dollars. Everyone who donated a million thank you's to you all for opening your hearts for this cause to Help Taylor Crosbie a very young girl going through some tough times. I know Winnipeg and Manitobans with few Tourist went way beyond my exceptions. Going forward I will have a donation box if people can feel free to donate with her picture and the GO FUND ME article her Mother wrote. On another topic again thank you Oren my little buddy for donating his time these four days to help me chemically spray the coach's for covid making sure Patrons washed there hands. I could have not done this without his help. Going forward he is only thirteen and is much wiser then his age. He has loved the train as little kid. So thanks Oren for your help and making the train safe for the customers from Covid. See more

Yes fare 3.25 if you pay cash and 3.50 if you use debit no credit cards please. We are located West end of the Park just past... the playground and just west of the old Zoo entrance that was shut down in 2009. You can google park map to see location if you have problems. Thank you hope that answers some of your questions. And Big Yes to operating everyday you need not call I'm open remember if it rains we are closed and if some mechanical breakdown that can't be predicted happens I will leave on answering machine and this page as well that we are down, but let us hope that does not happen. Thanks everyone for you input and suggestions. As stated before I work seven days a week about 9 hours a day to expand hours at this time is not physically or financially feasible. I will keep my hours from Noon to 6 pm and will make changes if need be if things don't workout in the long haul because of Covid. Everyday I think it's got to get better and it will. History has always shown a lot of people love and support this train and it is very unique. I have always said I'm the caretaker and my customers are the owners. Thank you all Patrons from the Past, Present and Future. All small local business need your help support locals as much as we all can during these tough times.

Assiniboine Park Steam Train 28.04.2020

Will open today again at Noon to 6 pm. Thanks all for your reply's it sure makes me feel good with all your support. Was not trying to cause an uproar but just tell the way it has been this year. And trying to tell people that it takes a lot to keep this train chugging along. The Covid not just effecting my business but a lot of business. And no tourist is killer in our industry. The hot weather with humidity has not helped as well. Thank you and will see how it goes this week and if business remains very slow changes will need to happen. Thank you.

Assiniboine Park Steam Train 16.04.2020

Knew this would be different with Covid but again another very very slow day. So bad closed at 4pm only had 17 people in 4 hours. The lack of Tourist, and Heat wave are killing both the Train and Park. This week looks like waste if heat keeps up. I will probably not open for the weekdays and will play this day by day, Today it never covered the cost of operation forget the wage, I need twelve people minimal to break even on ride. Best load today was 7 worse one person. So weekends open for sure but weekdays play it one day at time. You can call 831 0197 leave a message and if I don't call back that same day I will be closed. We open usually NOON TO 6 PM.

Thanks to everyone who rode and supported the train in 2019. As for today we are closed until next Spring 2020. The weather is pretty well a copy as 2018 Hot Humid Summer with cold wet fall. Once again this fall has been terrible for farmers and weather related business such as the train. The water has been turned off and the boiler to the steam engine has been winterized. See you all next year God Willing, Health and Happiness to all and take care stay warm. Many thanks once again see into our 56 years at Assiniboine Park. The only coal burning steam train in City Park in all of Canada.

Assiniboine Park Steam Train 02.03.2020

Want to thank all the people who rode and supported the train this year. As most of you know we had a lot of issues and now Mother Nature has really hurt us this fall. With the bad weather in Sept and now in Oct the train is now closed for 2018. It will go down as one of the worse season in history. First there was fire ban in effect and I was not able to open until May long weekend which did not happen because of mechanical issues after spending close to 17 k on the Engine e...verything was done incorrectly and timing was out of whack etc. As you know Insurance, rent to the park and bills etc. still had to be paid. Thanks to many people out there who gave donations and stickers for supporting the train. Just when I was seeing the light the weather has now effected my business. Due to the cold and rain/snow the train is now closed for the year. The water is now off and the boiler on the engine drained. If the engine were to freeze up many things could happen to the point that the train boiler could be destroyed and the cost would be into the 50 k range, it is not worth the risk. Thank you once again hope to see you all in 2019. See more

Assiniboine Park Steam Train 24.02.2020

Due to the cold spell and snow the Steam Engine had to be drained today and several parts taken off because of freezing Temp. that could cause thousands of dollars of damage. Water has been temporarily turned off as well in the Park so Steam Train will not be in operation this weekend Sept 29th and 30th. Hope to see better weather for Oct but, if weather gets worse by mid Oct train will be closed until spring of 2019. Sorry cross our fingers for better weather next week.
