What about getting to the root causes of food (and housing) insecurity? Systemic problems such as below livable wage jobs, erosion of social security safety net for most vulnerable populations like seniors and person with disabilities and the homelessness problem all point to why it is necessary to lean of changes to public policy and be involved in elections. In March 2018 alone, there were more than 1 million visits to food banks in Canada.
