In honouring the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, AYSP reflects on and commemorates the lives of the lost children and survivors of residential schools, and the profound impact it continues to have on Indigenous families and communities. In acknowledging this tragic history, AYSP devotes this day to study, learn, listen, and act in subservience to the requests and needs of Indigenous communities. AYSP has composed a list of events, readings, donation sites, and sho...rt videos with the expectation that staff and others can enhance their knowledge, understanding and respect for all Indigenous peoples. These resources are available on our website please visit www.aysp.ca. AYSP stands against colonial violence and in solidarity with the pillars of this Nation we call Canada. We also want to bring attention to the wonderful work of local Indigenous community organizations in Peel Region: https://www.metisnation.org/ The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) has a number of programs and services through multiple branches, including the Healing and Wellness branch, which facilitates and coordinates programs, services, and activities to address the holistic needs of Métis people in Ontario at the provincial, regional, and local levels. https://theindigenousnetwork.com The Indigenous Network is a community-based, non-profit, registered charity whose mission is to provide programs and services to address the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical needs of the Urban Indigenous population of Mississauga and neighbouring regions. Through a supportive social network and culturally appropriate programs and services, Indigenous peoples will have the opportunity to develop and strengthen a sense of community in Mississauga.
