Statement from the Council of Nova Scotia University Presidents (CONSUP) Thursday, July 30, 2020 The Council of Nova Scotia University Presidents (CONSUP) announces that all Nova Scotia’s universities will include policies and practices requiring the wearing of non-medical masks or face coverings on their respective campuses in their comprehensive plans to address the risk of COVID-19 infections on their campuses. This initiative is in support of The Province of Nova Scotia’s... Chief Medical Officer of Health’s July 24th directive of mandatory mask wearing in indoor public places, including university campuses. Nova Scotia’s universities are adopting this best practice (among others, like facilitating physical distancing and frequent hand washing) to help keep our campuses, our communitiesand each othersafe, and to support the excellent work the Province of Nova Scotia is doing in flattening the curve of COVID-19. To that end and as we prepare for the safe and gradual return to campus, we ask individuals to bring their masks when arriving on campus and to wear them at all times except where your institution’s policy explicitly permits them to be removed. Exceptions will apply to individuals for whom an accommodation is required in relation to the wearing of masks. Please continue to visit university websites for updates on institutional return-to-campus plans.
