Every Thursday afternoon brings a different ice cream treat, but made to order Banana Splits have become our most favourite of treats these days. Two scoops of vanilla ice cream, fresh bananas, pineapple, strawberries, caramel & chocolate sauces, toasted pecans and whipped cream, all topped with a cherry, of course! Not a drop left in any of these banana boats! Simply delicious Chef Lewis & Josh! If you two build it, we will definitely enjoy it!
From now until late September, Fridays will now be known as Jeans Day at Astoria. For a $2 donation to the jar, staff & residents can wear jeans and raise funds in support of World Alzheimers Awarness Day (September 21). Let’s support research and treatment in to this challenging and life altering disease that affects so many. All money raised on Jeans Day Fridays will go to the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C.
On January 25th, we acknowledged Robbie Burns Day with a piper, haggis, a poem or two and a wee dram. Murray had fun with the accent. We all had fun with the tasting!!
Update! 96% of our residents and 81% of our team have had their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine to create the immunity needed to move us out of this pandemic! Let’s continue to: Wash our hands! Wear a mask! ... Keep our distance! 6 See more
Take that Covid19! Our commitment to one another's health and wellbeing is palpable at Astoria. Milton B was the first in our community to receive his vaccine. It was a pivotal moment for all of us!
On Covid19 vaccination day, our General Manager Naheed let all of his team know how he felt about their commitment to Astoria and one another. He brought them all bags of Life Savers, because that is what they are. They are our Superheroes! Thank you Team!
The PoCo Heritage Society is holding a small tree decorating contest for the month of December. These ladies spent hours hand painting small rocks to look like Christmas ornaments. Throughout this past 8 months, Astoria residents have painted dozens of decorative rocks for our gardens and patio spaces. A rock ornament tree reflected Astoria perfectly. Stop by the Heritage Society on McAllister and vote for our tree. Maybe we will be the community favourite!

The making of a beautiful wall to pay tribute to the service men and women of Astoria.
The Evening Knitters recently hosted an in-house and on-line knitting & craft fundraiser. Between toques, scarves, blankets, children’s knit toys, artisan cards, and a raffle, the total was just over $1100.00. A great result for the Seniors Services Society’s Housing Division. Thank you all for your generous support.
