Tonight at 9 pm we go live on Facebook with The House! Robert Astroff, Ph.D will be discussing tips for managing and progressing your career during this pandemic!
The first step in any career journey is to explore and discover your options. Before getting started, take a look at what's out there! It would be unfortunate for you to put your time and energy into an opportunity, only to find out afterwards that a better suited and more desirable option was out there right under your nose, and you just didn’t know about it.
Person to person connection is an important part of our lives, but with our regular schedule so disrupted, it's important to find new ways to communicate with those around us.
What does success look like to you? How will you know if you've achieved your desired outcome? Make sure your goals are articulated in such a way that you can measure your success. This can be done through creating achievement benchmarks along the way or quantifying your goals.
You have to make sure you're feeling healthy, confident and positive before trying to make changes or improvements in your life. Always self-evaluate how you are feeling and try to make any necessary adjustments before immersing yourself into a difficult task.
Each learning journey is unique and should reflect a specific set of needs and circumstance. Anticipate your needs for the best fit.
How has your daily life changed since the pandemic started? Are there any positive aspects of that new schedule? Perhaps more free time to catch up on a favourite tv show, or time you can dedicate to learning a new skill.
Are you feeling isolated from your friends/family/coworkers? It's very important to remain in contact with them even when you cannot visit them in person. Make a plan today to FaceTime someone important to you - and do it!
Where do you turn to for inspiration? Reading the right book that's going to get your mind working is a great start! Find something to read that can teach you something new.
Outlining and reflecting on how you spend your time will help clarify what your priorities are and will help you better understand the time commitments you are willing to invest in your future success. How do you spend your time? Does the amount of time you devote to certain activities correlate with your priorities?
Look to those around you, and identify individuals that you relate to, and people that you consider to be role models. These may be people you have a personal connection with or individuals you have read about online. People are amazing! ... When in need of inspiration, look to see how others have succeeded in their accomplishments.
