Well the hampers are gone, the floors are clean and the fellowship hall looks like nothing even happened there! I missed a few days of photos so here they are. Don’t take many on hamper Pick up day. Just too busy!! Enjoy! We appreciate all donations, both monetary and non perishable! Didn’t get a photo of the apples from Athens United, carrots and onions from Addison United, potatoes from Mensen Farms, and oranges from St Denis Church . Those boxes going to the cats were ...so full they would barely fit in some vehicles! This community and area should feel very proud of hiw they have given to others and all they have done!! Well Christmas hamper week is off to a great start. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much food. And monetary donations. The generosity of our community and surrounding is absolutely astounding!! My heart is bursting with pride to be such a part of this. There was even a visit from Santa today!! and his elves!! Thanks to Elizabethtown-Kitley Twsps and Meadowview school for this load!! And a big truckload from ADHS.... so much Dave could not get the back of his truck closed!! Thanks to Mr Pier and staff for this food collection and gifts for needy children!! You guys rock!! Thanks to Miss Campbell’s winning class for the most food!! Hope you got a reward!!

More Great Community support!! Just look at this prize someone will take home on Dec 23rd!! Can you believe it!! Owners of the Peacock Restaurant in Athens Alysha Korim and Nathan Silver have put all these items together for 1 big draw on Dec 23rd at noon. There’s a 50 inch tv, a chocolate basket, 2 coffee baskets, tool basket, and a, kids basket. ( hope I haven’t missed any) Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25 and are available from Dec 2nd until Dec 23rd at noon. Proceeds ...will go to the Athens Food Bank. This will be our last Food Drive for 2020. Thank you for being generous in your donations and Thank you to Todd Evans for organizing this event. You are a wonderful community worker Todd and the AFB thanks you.

A big thank you to those making and selling masks to help the Athens Food Bank. Top seller that I am aware of is Michealann Wright who has donated over $2000 to us! You go girl! We love and appreciate you. And thanks to Joanne Straka from The Village Store for giving the proceeds from the masks she sells to the FoidBank as well. We are so blessed with all the help we get!! and that fresh bread still keeps coming every week!! Thank you again

What a wonderful surprise in the mail this week from Mayor Steve Clark’s office. It has all been a community and area endeavour to be able to do what we do. Thank you so much . Shall be posting this on our FoodBank bulletin board.

Here is some interesting information about our little Food Bank. An average of 42 families so far. This means about 84 adults. And also means over 50 kids!! We are sure helping a lot of people thanks to your continued donations of food and money... and fresh produce!! Thank you all so much! We are still calling clients for their orders, and packing and delivering their groceries to a table outside. Everything is working well. Thanks to the volunteers for their dedication also!!

Retired teachers of Ontario organization member Mary Slade hands off a check to another RTO member Bernice McLean , chair of the Athens Food Bank /Crisis Fund Organization, for the Food Bank. This year RTO members decided to assist local food banks instead of their regular places. Thanks RTO

I am finding it harder and harder to find things I have posted on this site because of all the ads about doing this or that! Not happy! Messages just seem to disappear. This should not be that difficult!

Great helpers at AFB today, picking up 66 boxes of emergency supplies and mega bottles of laundry soap from Prescott Food Bank. They are so good to us! Thanks Dave Bunt And Doug McLean for your packing, and lugging all the boxes!!

A lovely lady brings a large loaf of homemade bread for each client every Monday!! What a treat they get!!

The final tally from collection for the FoodBank last Saturday was ..... $4810.20 Way to go Athens!!

Well all the food collected last Saturday has had dates checked, and been put away. All cupboards have been stocked up and we are ready for Monday. Special thank you to Sandra Stakenvicious, Dave Bunt, Barb Kelsey, Willie Michelle, Shirley Mainse, Cliff Lalonde, Tracey Tracey Johnston Walker, and Brenda Wells for helping us get this job done!! And it only took about 4 1/2 hours. Glad to have strong backs for carrying boxes upstairs. Jobs well done!!

Kudos to all those folk who looked after the food drive in Athens this morning. I am still in awe!! Spearheaded by Todd Evans and Greg Kearney from Athens Council, 3 truckloads of food were collected. More than we collect at Christmas ! Besides all this food, between $4 and 5, 000 was collected. An exact amount will be posted when verified. All the food will remain in the fellowship hall for 72 hours when it will be sorted and stored. Volunteers will be busy for a few day...s!! These photos really do not do the number of donations justice. Thank you to all who worked hard collecting, carrying into the hall , and all who donated in any way. See more

Please remember the FoodDrive this Saturday by Council. Time is 9 - 12. I understand there is a drop off at Center 76 for anyone not on the route , or you can call Todd Evans at 613 802 1155 if you are in a Rural area and need a pick up. A big thanks to Council for spearheading this endeavour.

Anyone wishing to donate to the Athens FoodBank can : send a cheque to Athens FoodBank, Box 115, Athens, bring your donation to the FoodBank any Monday between the hours of 10 and noon, or make a direct deposit to [email protected] Please make sure that you add your name and mailing address to the message section of your deposit.
