Hello ATABC members, As per an eblast sent out last night, the BOD is putting together as much information as we can to share to our membership. We would like to thank everyone for helping by sharing information that they have gathered on social media so far. We have been watching and listening to that information as some of you may be receiving it faster than us. We hope you understand the time that we need to take in order to attain official documentation on any developmen...ts, however, before we are able to formally publish it ourselves. We must express that third-party information is not a valid source for us to provide to the membership. If anyone has emails or other documented correspondence from Telehealth companies, insurances companies, etc. that you would like to share with us, please do so by emailing [email protected]. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. We hope everyone is staying safe and well! - ATABC Board of Directors
COVID-19 became a serious worldwide issue very quickly. As members of a profession that is hands-on with the public, we’d like to remind everyone to take extra precautions for your own health and others’. While sports cancellations across the globe have already affected Athletic Therapists on a large scale, we know that others are continuing to work in some capacity, whether it be on the field or in the clinic. AVOID TOUCHING YOUR FACE WITH UNWASHED HANDS. Hand-washing freque...ntly is of the utmost importance before and after contact with others, between placing your hands on different people, before and after eating, etc. Remember, alcohol-based hand sanitizer is NOT a good substitute for soap and water. Disinfecting workplace, household, and handheld objects, such as door handles, phones, computers, and clinic tools, is also crucial. A list of household cleaners that effectively kill the COVID-19 virus can be found at the below link. https://www.epa.gov//list-n-disinfectants-use-against-sars The recommended two-meter social distancing is effective and should be respected at this time when possible. Members should also ensure that all public and personnel that they are working with are fully educated on the matter and know to stay home and self-isolated if feeling unwell. Individuals who feel ill should also be advised to call their local health authority and not physically enter clinics or hospitals and risk spreading pathogens. Other shareable information on this virus can be found at the following links. https://www.who.int//novel-/advice-for-public/myth-busters https://www.cdc.gov//2019-n/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html
