Please review the information and login to SchoolZone to choose how your child will resume classes for the first quarter of the school year: in-person classes or online instruction. To our entire Athlone School Community, We are writing in support of building an Athlone School Community that speaks about, lives out, and challenges that which interferes with Equity, Integrity, Collaboration, and Accountability for all. Regardless of each person’s ethnicity, cultural practices, belief system, skin colour, or gender presentation, every person will be afforded a voice and just treatment. We are committed to modeling and teaching these four cornerstones, and ...to living kind and courageous lives. Each member of our school community recommits to ensuring Athlone School, the spaces we use, and the places we go are safe and welcoming. Saying this and doing it will require courage. It will also require us to point out each other’s blind spots in a respectful yet persistent manner. We acknowledge that we do not have all the answers. As educators, we are dedicated to life-long learning. As we listen and seek to understand, there are moments where we humbly recognize that formerly accepted beliefs and understandings must give way to new information and perspectives; that ways we have thought about things and approaches we have used have not resulted in equity and fairness in the education system. We will continue to move forward with a deep commitment to first seek to understand, and then to be understood, even when opinions differ. And during these conversations and interactions, to refrain from judgement and to commit to maintaining the dignity of all. We hold each other accountable for this commitment to and with the Athlone School Community.
