AFCOOP has 3 free double passes to Elevation Pictures' new feature, AMMONITE, featuring Academy Award winner Kate Winslet and Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan. The film is set in 1840s England, and follows the story of acclaimed but overlooked fossil hunter Mary Anning and her intense, life-altering relationship with a young woman sent to convalesce by the sea. AMMONITE premiered at Cannes Film Festival this year, played at TIFF and several Canadian film festivals, and is already gaining Oscar buzz for Kate Winslet’s excellent performance. To win one of the 3 double passes in the comments list another historical drama featuring either Kate Winslet or Saoirse Ronan. The first three different answers will get the tickets! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbSC7C9Iatk

BLACK STORIES MATTER - How to Get More Authentic Black Stories Produced on Film and TV? Canadian television and film still has not made a significant space for Black artists, nor does it adequately reflect the 22 %of Canadians who are people of colour when it comes to who’s both behind and in front of the camera. Characters who are BIPOC tend to exist in the margins they give the appearance of diversity, but they exist in white worlds and their stories are told largely by w...hite writers. This panel will look at ways to ensure that Black stories are kept authentic when being produced or picked up by television distributors. With: Catherine Verdon- Diamond (moderator), Ella Cooper, Jennifer Holness, Sabine Daniel, Alicia K. Harris Join us at the 16th Montreal Black Film Festival edition (ONLINE)!
