Mad Practice: Sanity Skills for Crazy Times is a mental health zoom meet-up hosted by comedian JD Derbyshire, creator and performer of last season’s hit show Certified. JD is especially equipped to deal with these times of interrupted normalcy, heightened anxiety, the never ending flip-flop between mania and depression, and the mind numbing prospect of who to trust and how to figure out what’s really going on. If you’re feeling crazy, or think you might be heading there, com...e hang out with JD in a space where humour and grief can coexist. Nothing will be solved but maybe we’ll have some good old fashioned laugh-cries or cry-laughs or laugh-laughs or cry-cries. When: Tuesday, March 23, 1:00pm - 2:30pm Atlantic Time Register HERE: https://bit.ly/2OBJDx7 NOTE: This session is capped at 50 participants so please register soon and please attend if you have registered.
COVID-19 shutdowns have decimated Canada's live music industry. To support the artists, industry workers, and everyone who brings live events to life, we'll be sharing some of our staff and members' favourite live music memories in the coming weeks. Today's story comes from Andrew Chandler of Chester Playhouse Theatre. "You may laugh and by all means do, the best show that I've ever seen in my life was seeing Bobby McFerrin at Massey Hall & Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto. I got ...tickets, I was in the second row. And he sauntered out on stage in jeans and a T shirtit was just him. He sang a capella for like two hours, and it was like a religious experience. I didn't want to hear anything afterwards because it was so good, and I didn't want to pollute my ears again afterwards. He was fun and funny and beautiful and he had us singing along and playing. He taught us chords and would improvise over top of it. It was incredible." Want to share your own live performance story? Shoot us a DM. #ForTheLoveOfLIVE Canadian Live Music Association
